Taylors POV
I opened my eyes, realising I wouldn't get any more sleep but it's not like I got any sleep anyway, I laid there for a few minutes until a sweet smell wafted through the trapdoor. I took a deep breath, and my eyes snapped open, The sweet smell was pancakes, Maple syrup and Pancakes the memories came flooding back 'Be quiet and it'll go quicker' i thought I heard someone say. I closed my eyes and saw him. I felt him. My breath quickened as I ran and opened my window, thinking some fresh air will help, it did not. The cold wind reminded me more of last night; I swallowed feeling bile rise in my throat, I leaned out the window and threw up before slumping against the wall trying to control my breathing and praying no one noticed my little or not so little panic attack. I grabbed the cup of water that sat on my bedside table and slowly sipped it, trying to take my mind off Jamie. Hey, There's another fun fact about me I throw up when I freak out, because I suck at showing proper emotions, I was honestly surprised I wasn't sick last night but hey. After a while of sitting there, I decided I should probably get up. I pulled out my favourite pair of jeans, The 2019 jeans as I call them, a long sleeve shirt, my jacket and slipped them on before jumping down the trap door and making my way out to the living room, Yes I did brush my teeth, you idiot. "Hey, Ponyboy" I greeted, Pony looked up from his book and nodded before burying his nose back in it, At that moment Steve and Two-Bit busted through the front door, Great, I thought laughing to myself.
"Its Snowing" Two-Bit screamed jumping on Ponyboy who groaned and tried to push Two-Bit off, but he wouldn't budge "Haha, you can never beat me Ponyboy" Two finally let go because Sodapop called out saying breakfast is ready. I chuckled and went into the dining room, was I going to eat? nope. They all sat down at the table, and I leaned against the
"Hey Soda" I hollered, and Sodapop looked up from his food "Did ya get much sleep last night?" I asked, and he raised an eyebrow
"What?" he asked, I wiggled my eyebrows, his eyebrows furrowed in thought for a second before looking at me with both amusement and annoyance "Funny Taylor, And I have you know that I'm, not a guy-whore, I don't do that," he said quite proudly
"No you're a man-whore" I mumbled rolling my eyes
"Is there something you wanna share with the class miss Murphy?" he asked
"Nope," I said popping the 'p', Soda rolled his eyes and went back to wolfing down his pancakes "Alright I'm out, see y'all later" I quickly shoved on my shoes grabbed my skateboard and pushed open the door to see a six-inch layer of snow covering the entire town "Damnit Two-Bit you, son of a bitch, you were right," I mumbled, jumping off the porch and feeling my socks get slightly wet, I wish I had some snow boots or just boots but I can't afford that shit. I help pay the bills, thanks to Sodas help because I know Darry would never let me do that and I have school stuff and gets rid of most of my money, I also spent the rest of the money I had on that god awful dress that got me nearly raped, I shouldn't have worn that damned dress. I tried to shove open the gate to no success due to the amount of snow, I sighed "Stupid fucken gate" I muttered clambering over it and landing not so gracefully on my feet. Not many people were out on the greaser side of town, probably working like usual.
I nearly froze to death walking to Madis house but I made it, and walked up the front steps and knocked on the door after some jostling around inside the house the door opened "Hey Tay" Madi said, I smiled though it wasn't a proper one, "do you want to come in? it's freezing out, you look cold"
"Nah im just getting my stuff," I said, she nodded and beckoned me to come up to her room, I followed her, the house was so warm and felt so nice after being in the bitter cold. Madi handed me my bag "Thanks Mads, im sorry I have to go. I uh-i have a shift" I lied, she smiled and nodded
"Do want a lift the DX? it's freezing?" she said as I started walking down the large staircase
"Nope ill fine. see ya" I said in a fake-sounding happy voice, probably because it was fake but I digress. I shoved open the door and braced for the cold once again and set off back down the streets, where the fuck do I go now? I can't go back to the house, not yet anyway. I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice a car pulling up beside me, well not until I hear a horn. Son of bitch, I don't want to do this today. I groaned and looked at the car to see Johnny Cade smiling at me.
"Taylor," he said "Its cold, get in" I bit my lip considering if I should, I didn't want to talk to anyone after last night, but I was on the verge of freezing to death. I sighed and opened the door hopping in the car. I kept my head down, still thinking about you know what, I felt Johnny's eyes on me but I didn't want to look up because that would result in a conversation about last night. the tension in the car was so thick you could cut it with a knife. "So how are you?" Johnny asked, i just shrugged "Anything new?" he asked and again I shrugged "Do you want to talk about anything?" he asked again and I cracked
"WILL YOU JUST SHUT UP" I snapped, johnny jumped. "Sorry" I mumbled Johnny grabbed my hand
"Hey it's ok, what happened with you last night i get it you're on edge. Y-you don't have to talk to me if you want to I just wanted to make sure you're okay" he said I just looked at my lap, tears welling not really caring if they fell. Johnny saw that and held my hand.
