It was already October, which meant another delicious Halloween feast.

In fact, it was so good that Ed, Malorie, and Lance inhaled their food and finished far before everyone else.

"I think this is the best Halloween yet, they even made pumpkin pie this year!" said Ed.

"And there's no troll in the dungeon, remember that?!" Malorie added.

"Who could forget that? TROLL, TROLL IN THE DUNGEONS!" Lance mocked Professor Quirrell.

They all laughed while continue to flail their arms and make fun of him.

"I'm not sure whose worse, him or Lockhart," Malorie debated.

"Well, at least it can't get any worse, right?" Ed said optimistically.

"Good point, besides, Claire says the job is jinxed. He probably won't stay any longer than a year," stated Malorie.

"Good, I don't think I could take another one of his pixie lessons," Lance added.

"Speaking of classes, we should probably go do our homework," Ed suggested.

"Ed, come on, it's Halloween," Malorie protested.

"Yeah, can't you just do it for us?" Lance begged.

"Ok, fine," Ed agreed, she couldn't say no to her best friends.

The three of them started to get up, and others seemed to be done with dinner as well. By the time they got to the halls of the Great Hall, there was already a crowd of people from all houses making their way back to the dorms.

They walked through the halls, as usual, until people stopped all of a sudden.

"What's going on?" Ed asked.

"I don't know... Claire! Did you see what happened?" Malorie yelled to her older sister over the voices of the crowd.

Claire turned and walked away from her fourth year friends.

"Yeah, it's not good..." She responded as she motioned for them to follow her.

They pushed their way to the front, splashing through the water puddled on the ground.

The three friends stopped dead in their tracks. Mrs. Norris was hanging from a bracket of a torch, and there was bright red writing on the wall.

"Is that... blood?" Ed asked, suddenly becoming very frightened.

"It's probably just a prank or something," Claire tried to comfort her.

Ed hadn't talked to Malorie's sister too much, but she knew Claire would be there if she ever needed her.

Now was definitely one of those times. Ed felt like this was more than just a prank, and she wasn't a very brave person at all (hence why she wasn't a Gryffindor).

She noticed Harry, Ron, and Hermione were there as well, but they were standing right in the middle of the hall. Ed gave Hermione a questioning look, but she just shrugged.
