A couple days had gone by since the race, and, just as Malfoy promised, he gave Ed a chocolate frog one evening in the Great Hall.

"I guess I'm supposed to give you this," he said unwillingly as he reached across the table and handed it to her.

"Thanks," Ed replied and smiled. She was starting to think he had forgotten, but she was wrong.

Finally, somebody proved that they could be reliable.

Time went by, which meant winter break was approaching.

The entire castle was decorated in beautiful Christmas decorations, along with huge Christmas trees lined up along the walls of the Great Hall.

Ed decided to go back home to the United States for the holidays, especially because she missed her family dearly and her friends were going home as well.

As much as she looked forward to the break, she couldn't help but feel disappointed because there was no way to communicate with anyone, since owls couldn't travel all the way to North America.

So, Ed, Malorie, and Lance decided to have a gift exchange the night before they had to leave in the common room.

"Go ahead, Ed, you should open one first," Malorie suggested.

"Are you sure?" She questioned. She always let others open their presents first.

"Oh stop being such a Hufflepuff and open the stupid present already," urged Malfoy, who was standing across the room and listening to their conversation.

"Why don't you stop eavesdropping," Ed said back. He glared at her.

Even though he was her friend, he was still kind of annoying sometimes.

But she listened anyways, and decided to open Malorie's present first.

She tore open the wrapping paper, which revealed a beautiful, hand-made friendship bracelet.

"I have a matching one, by the way," Malorie informed her.

"Thank you, I love it!" Ed replied as the two girls hugged. By the end of the night, Ed had also received a sneakoscope from Lance, who insisted she use it around her brothers, Kai and Leo, and given her friends gifts in return.

She gave Malorie a blanket (because it was always cold in the dungeons) and Lance Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans (his favorite candy).

She even got a chocolate frog for Malfoy, in honor of their race, but by the time they had finished exchanging gifts, he had gone into the boy's dormitory. She figured she would just have to give it to him the next morning.

Ed was getting worried, the students were already starting to leave the castle and she hadn't seen Malfoy to give him the present.

She looked for him in the crowd, and didn't see him at first, until she saw his bright blond hair not too far in front of her.

"Malfoy!" She yelled, but he didn't hear her.

"Malfoy! Wait up!" Ed yelled again, and this time he turned around.

They weren't able to meet until they were outside, where there were far less people and white fluffy snowflakes were falling to the ground.

"I got something for you," She said as she handed him the present.

"Merry Christmas," she added cheerfully in her high-pitched voice as he opened it.

Inside, there was the chocolate frog, along with a note that said:

Here you go, because you lost the race. :)

Malfoy smiled at that.

"How about a rematch then, if you're so good?" He suggested.

"No, that's alright. You had your chance, and it's your fault if you let me win," she replied.

"Fair enough. Well, I'll see you after break, Koldings," Malfoy agreed.

"Yeah, see you later Malfoy!" Ed said back.

Ed finally arrived at her home located outside of Chicago, and was absolutely thrilled to see her family.

They spent every minute together, and she loved being a part of their traditions, like going to her Grandparents' house on Christmas Eve and her Great Aunt's house on Christmas Day.

It was the best Christmas ever, from the music to the holiday spirit and everything in between, Ed enjoyed her favorite holiday very much.

In fact, she almost didn't even want to return to Hogwarts. However, she knew that she would have friends waiting for her when she did.
