Unfortunately for the students, Professor Moody meant it when he said they would be practicing how to resist the Imperius Curse, which happened to be in late October.

"But— you said it was illegal, Professor," Hermione protested.

"Dumbledore wants you taught what it feels like. If you'd rather learn the hard way, that's fine by me."

He then continued with the lesson, making some students do ridiculous things under the curse, completely out of their control.

He even made Malfoy tap dance, who was clearly humiliated.

Then there was Harry, who tried fighting the urge to jump onto a desk, but ended up hitting his head on the desk and knocking it over.

"Look at that, Potter fought it! He damn near beat it!" Professor Moody exclaimed.

"Very good, the rest of you, pay attention..."

"Miss Koldings, you're up next."

Ed had been standing in the back of the room and walked forward.

"Imperio!"

"Jump like a frog," she heard the teacher's voice in her head say.

She started to jump up and down normally, but another voice in her head stopped her.

This is stupid.

Why should I listen?

Fight it, fight it...

DON'T LISTEN!

At that moment, she broke free from the curse.

Professor Moody looked astonished.

"Well done, Koldings! She fought it completely! Very impressive, very impressive... must be headstrong, aren't you?"

Ed then walked back to her friends, very pleased with her performance.

"How did you do that?" Malfoy asked.

"I don't know, I just told myself to fight it," she explained humbly.

"Well you made it look easy, even Granger couldn't do it," Malorie commented.

"And I'm glad it was you that beat that mudblood," Malfoy smiled.

"But seriously, you need to teach me how you did that. I would do anything to not tap dance in front of everyone again," he added.

"Okay," Ed agreed, laughing.

That same day, at the front gates, everyone waited anxiously for the students from the other schools to arrive.

And of course, like she was doing all week, Professor McGonagall frantically went around telling students to tuck in their uniforms or behave better.

"Aha! Unless I am very much mistaken, the delegation from Beauxbatons approaches!" Dumbledore announced.

"Where?" Many students asked, looking around for a sign of some sort.
