The sun was streaming in from the glass windows in the Hogwarts library one afternoon, catching glints of tattered book spines and reflecting the dust in the air.
"Ed, come over here," said Hermione urgently, pointing to something on the page of a book.
"What is it? Did you find something?"
"Was this the dagger?" Hermione asked.
Ed stopped for a moment, it was identical to the one she made disappear from Bellatrix's side over a year ago during the war.
She couldn't remember the exact details, but she knew it when she saw it.
"Yes- that's it, where did you find that book?"
"The restricted section..."
"Stealing my fiancée from me again, Granger?" Draco interrupted as he hugged Ed from behind.
"Hi, Draco," she leaned into his touch, savoring the feeling.
After so many days of not knowing what was going to happen to him, she didn't want to take a single moment for granted.
"You keep reminding me, Malfoy," Hermione sneered.
Ed chuckled—the two of them would never see eye-to-eye, but it was pretty amusing to watch at times... until they almost killed each other.
No matter how much Draco complained though, Ed had grown close to Hermione and hung out with her often.
It turns out they had a lot in common, they just never had the chance to be friends in previous years.
"The point is, its called the Dagger of the Inferi. Those are muggles that were murdered and cursed to do a dark wizard's bidding," Hermione continued.
Ed froze, a memory flashing in her mind.
A dead body crawling towards her like it would drag her to hell, a flash of light brown hair, and a scream of a friend that she once knew as Malorie Blight.
"Ed, you had to do it," Draco said as if he read her thoughts, interlacing their fingers beneath the table.
Hermione looked confused at what they were talking about, but didn't ask.
"Right... what were you saying, Hermione?" Ed asked.
"Ed, you destroyed a valuable piece of dark magic!" She replied in awe.
"The dagger, on the blade it had the inscription of the process to create an inferius, and- well, that's just awful, you first had to stab the victim..." she muttered.
"I wouldn't say I destroyed it-" Ed stated.
"But you got rid of it!" Said Hermione.
"Of course she bloody got rid of it, she's incredible," Draco said proudly.
Ed rolled her eyes and smiled—he loved showing her off at any chance he could.
"We need to tell Professor McGonagall about this. She would want to know, and-"
Hermione kept going on as she held Ed's wrist and dragged her out of the library.
Ed turned her head and saw her very concerned boyfriend, who barely let her out of his sight after the Battle of Hogwarts.
"I'll be back," she reassured him.
Everything is okay now.

There was a loud screech from above—it was an owl.
"What's an owl doing here?" Paisley Adams, a seventh-year Slytherin and Ed's friend, asked.
