"Bye Mum, I'm going to Malorie's now," Ed called.

It was now mid-July and a beautiful summer day in the Netherlands, but Ed was planning on traveling to England.

"Have fun, sweetheart!" Indie, her mother, responded.

"Bye!" Her dad yelled.

After making sure everyone was in the other room, Ed then took a handful of Floo Powder and whispered "Malfoy Manor."

The world around her spun, until she landed in an ash-filled fireplace.

She coughed as a tall, pale boy helped her up.

"You really need to practice using Floo Powder. I bet my parents could hear crashing into our house all the way from London," Malfoy joked.

"Ha ha," said Ed sarcastically.

Malfoy had written to her saying that his parents would be gone for lunch with the Minister of Magic, and they took this opportunity to meet up.

They were glad they did, too. Even if it was only for a few hours, they would take any time together they could get.

_______________

September finally rolled around, and after saying goodbye to her family, Ed boarded the Hogwarts express, anxious to start her fifth year.

But instead of heading near the back, like previous years, she started towards the front of the train.

This was because she had the honor of being a Slytherin Prefect. Her family was so proud of her, and Ed was proud of herself, too—her hard work seemed to finally be noticed.

"Ed!" Someone yelled from down the train corridor.

She beamed when turned around and saw who it was.

"Draco!" She said excitedly as they ran to hug each other.

They weren't usually the type of people to hug, but there was something about the two of them together that changed everything.

As they approached each other, Draco's arms naturally fell around her. With the smell of his cologne and his protective grip on her, Ed couldn't help but melt in his arms.

Little did she know he felt the same way.

"I missed you," he whispered in her ear, giving her goosebumps.

"I missed you, too," she smiled.

They hadn't seen each other since the last time in July.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't write to you the rest of the summer," she apologized.

Mercury, her owl, had died of old age at the end of July and had no way to contact anyone.

The only time she did write to her friends was when her family was out of town and there happened to be a hidden owl post nearby. Although she wanted to go back, it was over an hour away from her house, and would've been impossible to find again.

"It's alright. I'm the one that should've written more,  but my parents kept using our bloody owl to keep in touch with the Minister-"

"Hey, we're both prefects!" He said when he saw her dark green pin on her robes.

"Nice!" She smiled as they walked into the prefects' compartment.

It was a lot bigger than the normal ones, and the seats looked much comfier.

"Wow, this is really nice," Ed commented as she looked around.

"Hey! Padma!" Ed greeted when she saw her Ravenclaw friend sitting there, too.
