Many people had forgotten about the incident with Mrs. Norris by now, especially because it was the first Quidditch match of the season.
Ed was really hoping Slytherin would win this year, she couldn't stand losing to Gryffindor two years in a row.
However, the other houses wanted to see Slytherin, who had a reputation for winning, lose.
Thankfully, it was a sunny day, so she assumed it would be a a good day for Quidditch.
After lunch, her, Malorie, and Lance went down to the Quidditch pitch, clearly representing their house pride with their scarfs and hand-held flags.
Flint and Wood soon shook hands, although neither of them seemed very willing, and Madam Hooch blew her whistle. The players were off.
Although Ed wasn't watching him, Malfoy wasn't doing half bad for his first match. He continuously searched for the fast, golden ball that would win the game, determined to beat Potter.
Speaking of Potter, Malfoy had crossed his path in the sky for a moment, but it was enough time to mock him.
"All right there, Scarhead?" he said.
Potter got so much attention, it was only fair that he made fun of him.
The game continued with a Gryffindor beater hitting the bludger at Adrian Pucey, a chaser for Slytherin, but surprising it sped towards Harry instead. He easily avoided it, but this time when the bludger was hit towards Malfoy it went to hit Harry once again.
However, Ed and her friends didn't quite notice this yet, they were too focused on paying attention to the Slytherin team.
Just like the least year, Lee Jordan was there to commentate the game.
"Slytherin lead, sixty points to zero" he shouted.
But the score was no surprise, the Slytherin's new Nimbus 2000 and ones were doing spectacular. The team was incredibly fast, giving them a huge advantage over the Gryffindors.
They also had another advantage- the bludger was still following Harry.
Wood soon called a time out while the Slytherins booed at them, leading the Gryffindors to believe that they jinxed it, but this was not the case.
The timeout ended soon, and the game was back on.
Almost immediately, Adrian Pucey attempted to score against Wood, but unfortunately he blocked it.
Meanwhile, Harry and Malfoy were occupied looking for the snitch, but of course Harry was still trying to get rid of the rogue bludger. In fact, he even had to fly straight through a crowd of Slytherins in the stands, right where Ed happened to be.
Her and her friends screamed and ducked out of the way, just in time.
"That was close!" Malorie said, relieved.
Harry then returned to the field, where, to Draco's amusement, he did a weird spin to avoid the bludger.
"Training for the ballet, Potter?" he laughed.
Then, all of a sudden, the golden snitch zoomed right next to Malfoy's head, but he didn't notice.
Harry soon seized his chance, and sped past Malfoy in attempt to catch the flying golden object. Malfoy immediately followed him, after ducking to avoid the vigorous bludger.
At this point, Malfoy had seen the snitch too, but he wasn't going to lose to Potter without a fight.
He elbowed him to get him out of the way, but it didn't work. So, Malfoy sped up as fast as he could, resulting in him taking the lead over Harry.
But the snitch had gone under the Quidditch stands, and neither of them had any other choice but to continue to follow it.
Malfoy was getting very close now. He held his hand out... just a few more inches and he would beat Potter for good.
"You'll never catch me, Potter!" He yelled back at Harry.
But he had spoken too soon.
Malfoy glanced behind him to keep an eye on the bludger that started to destroy the wooden structure, and Harry took the lead.
They continued to fly beneath the stands, abruptly swerving up and down.
Malfoy started gaining on Harry again, he was determined to win. He elbowed Potter once again, and they were now flying side by side.
They continued like this for a while, even after going above ground for a split second didn't stop either of them from catching the snitch any earlier.
Ed and her friends were anxious for Slytherin to win, even if it meant Malfoy had to do good.
They had been trying their best to watch Draco and Harry, but it was hard to tell what was going on. Even Lee Jordan couldn't seem to see anything that was happening under the stands.
But Harry and Malfoy knew exactly what was happening.
The bludger had become even more reckless now, and Malfoy had to swerve quickly to the left avoid it. However, he lost his balance, and his broom caught on a piece of wood, causing him to go flying off of it.
He was thrown the air and tumbled onto the ground, hard, casing the wind to be knocked out of him.
The professors saw this and seem concerned, but Lucius, who was also sitting in the stands with them, was embarrassed with his son's poor performance.
Ed gasped too, he seemed really hurt.
In fact, most of the other second year Slytherins had lost focus of the game and didn't even realize that Harry had just won the match, although he now had an arm with no bones in it.
Because of this, him and Malfoy were brought to the Hospital Wing immediately, but despite the fact that Malfoy was injured, Flint still yelled at Draco for not catching the golden snitch out on the pitch.
"I can't believe you didn't catch it, IT WAS RIGHT BY YOUR HEAD AND YOU DIDN'T NOTICE! We could have beat Gryffindor, do you not know what that would have meant for this team?! You better work harder for our next match, otherwise I might just have to replace you," he warned.
Although Malfoy desperately wanted to stay something back, he knew to keep his mouth shut. Besides, he would prove to Flint that he was perfectly capable of being a good seeker.
Once in the Hospital Wing, Draco was lying in one of the beds and (unnecessarily) wincing from falling off his broom.
Crabbe and Goyle were also by his side, but Ed still refused to even speak to him.
Suddenly, Madam Pomfrey rushed into the room to tend to Harry.
"Oh, stop complaining Mr. Malfoy, you're free to go," she said as she hurriedly walked past him.
This annoyed Malfoy, he always seemed to be overlooked whenever Harry was present.

The next morning, Ed was on her way to meet Malorie and Lance by the lake when she encountered Malfoy.
"I bet you're glad Gryffindor won, aren't you, Koldings?" He sneered.
Ed was very offended at this, just because she had Gryffindor friends it didn't mean she was one. And she wanted to make this very clear.
"Of course not, I'm a Slytherin..."
"No, you're just an embarrassment to the rest of the house," Malfoy interrupted.
"Not as embarrassing as almost catching the snitch," Ed said back.
It was his fault they didn't win, after all.
"I don't need you telling me my mistakes too," he retorted. First his father, then Flint, now Koldings?
"Then maybe you should've thought of that before being rude to me and my friends," she snapped back and walked off.
