Third POV
CA, LAShe felt numb, so numb. Every part of her body felt cold and isolated.
As she sat in the hospital room, sitting right besides her mom's bed, who's chest rose up and down with every punctuated breath, she thought long and hard about her life.
Everything before felt so simple, so plain. She was able to live everyday without having to live with this aching pain in her heart.
She watched as the liquid fell down the IV line and into her mom's body, filling her system with the refreshing molecules she needed.
For some reason it felt like her mom was the only reason for her to keep going. Everything else felt so irrelevant and unimportant, and she absolutely hated that.
But, she can't help it. She overheard the conversation between her sister and Rob last night, and it's really taken a toll on her.
The only thing she can't figure out is why? Why is it effecting her so badly? She thought that she didn't care about any of it, and she wanted to stay out of it.
But, he, him.....pulled her deeper and deeper. Led her on to believe that maybe there was something more between them that she never knew could even happen within her lifetime.
She never thought she'd be able to find love, and for a split second, she thought she had a chance.
She's never had a fling or a spark with anyone ever, so when Rob came along and changed all of that, it really swept her off her feet.
She thought there was something more.
Although now, it's clear that there isn't. Those butterflies she felt whenever he was around now feel dead as they swirled around her stomach.
That warm blush that tinted her face whenever he was around now feels like a pale blue grey.
Her eyes no longer lit up when she gazed into his eyes. Almost like the spark died instantly and without warning.
Her first love turned out to be her first heartbreak, and that thought alone makes her want to cry her eyes out and curl up in a tiny ball.
That's exactly what she did. Her knees snuggled up to her chest as tears made their way down her slim face. She didn't make any sounds, she just sat there and let her body do the work. Her face was monotone, her eyes burning from the lack of blinking she was doing.
All that still reminded her of her reality was the slow beeping of the machines within the room, accompanied by the slight hushed sound of breathing coming out of her mom's unconscious body.
Her body turned to her mom's, eyes locking onto the breathing mask that was helping keep her alive.
"Hi mommy." Kristen whispered, teary eyes barely making out her blanketed figure.
"I heard that people in comas can actually hear what's going on around them, isn't that crazy?" She chuckled lightly, sniffing up the snot that was being produced by her nose.
"I don't know how you're going to react to everything when you wake up mom, I really don't know how." Kristen continued, feeling bad that her mom's husband had to die without her being able to know.
"Dad's gone, but only physically. I bet he's watching over you right now momma. He's not fully gone ok? We're all going to miss him, hell, I miss him so much right now, but we gotta hold on tight ok? You gotta survive for me because you're all I have left." Kristen cried out loud, covering her mouth right after.
