A few weeks ago:

Staring down at the white paper, my fist clenched around the pen in my hand turning my strained knuckles a pasty white.

My eyes glanced up at the door as a sound echoed throughout the large room.

"Come in."

The door swung open and in strolled the man himself.

"Ah, Alpha Harry. What a pleasure," I grimaced as the lie slipped through my clenched teeth with distaste.

"The pleasure is all mine," a grim smile flickered upon his thin stained brown lips as his eyes took me in.

"Hmm," I grimaced, "now. Do you know why I called you here today?"

He waddled over to the seat on the other side of my wooden desk and planted his fat behind down.

"Dickson informed me that you have some information about my wife."

My blood boiled, my mind registering what he had just said.

I slammed my hands down on the desk and pushed myself up, "that young girl is not your fucking wife!"

His eyes widened in shock and he leaned back in his chair.

I swallowed, closing my eyes and counting to ten.

"Now," I spoke slowly, "I hear your pack is in trading with vampires?"

He nodded his head slowly.

"Well, I need you to send some my way. About 50? I need to send a warning to someone."

"A-A warning?"

I nodded my head.

"50 is quite a lot for a warning. You must be targeting a big pack."

"The biggest," I smirked, "send them to me tomorrow afternoon at 5pm and i'll be waiting. Don't disappoint me."

—————————————————-

"They attacked her?!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, my fist slamming down hard enough to crack the wood of the oak desk.

Dickson nodded hesitantly, fear in his eyes as he watched fire tear through me.

"I told them not to! They know who she is! Damn it, everyone knows who she is! They know to listen to me and they know damn well I need her alive and well!"

"I-I'm sorry," he spoke, "I will sent Cara to the pack once she has recovered. She will tell her that the setback wasn't her fault."

"You will do just that! And while you're at it, go to Alpha Harry's pack and beat the holy hell out of him until he can't even think without it causing him some kind of physical pain!"

"Yes, Miss."

Dickson nodded and scurried out of my office.

Incompetent little bastard. If he knew what was good for him, he wouldn't come back until that vile Alpha was dead.

He could never have her. Never.

The image of the filthy blood suckers even touching her sent shockwaves of fire through my bones and I immediately closed my eyes and began to count.

Ever since I was a child, I had to count to control my anger. That was the one thing I'd always had a problem with. The burning itch for a fight, for death. But I was trying to be good. Good for her.

From the moment we met, I knew we had a connection. I could feel it. It was like an unofficial mate bond.

My heart felt tight just thinking about it. About her.

I will get you, Alexis. If it's the last thing I do.
