Chapter 25- Not Gone To Plan

My fingers were anxiously tapping the table cloth, the soft pad echoing throughout the quiet area like the pitter-patter of tiny mice paws.
Was Xavier going to like it?

My heart, rapidly pounding against my chest, was quivering with nerves, coaxing the pace of my fingers against the cool white table cloth even further.

A large figure appeared walking down the path, blacked out by the harsh light bursting from behind them.

Shock erupted through my skin as the light shot out like a bullet piercing my eyes unexpectedly.

As the broad figure got closer, a pair of soft brown eyes met mine.

Standing up, I questioned him, "Where's Xavier?"

"I'm so sorry, Lexi. He left a few hours ago; one of the Alpha's the pack is allies with needed his help and he had to leave immediately."

"What?"

My heart sank and nervousness morphed into harsh embarrassment. I had been waiting here like an idiot for almost an hour now. Why didn't he tell me he was leaving?

Water began to pool under my eyes at the embarrassment of getting stood up.

"I'm sorry," he sighed, a pity full look lingering in his warm chocolate brown eyes.

"You look gorgeous by the way," he complimented, nervously.

A small smile weaved onto my lips, "thanks."

"Let me take you out."

I paused, "wait what?"

"You're all dressed up and undoubtedly upset. Let me cheer you up and we can go out together," he smiled.

The corners of my lips turned up into a small smile as he held out his arm for me to latch onto.

My small hand gently slipped under his bicep and took hold of his muscular arm.

"Let's go, m'lady," he mocked a British accent.

"Why thank you, kind sir," my vocals also mocked.

Jayden and I chuckled and began to walk away to wherever the hell we were going.

"So," he made conversation, "are you wanting to go somewhere fancy, or go to a club?"

Sucking in a sharp breath, I replied, "oh! Now that's a tough one. I am pretty sure Xavier wouldn't appreciate me going to get a fancy dinner with another guy especially his Beta, however last time I went clubbing it didn't go well so..."

Truth is, the thought of another man taking me out made my insides feel twisted. It didn't feel right.

Chuckling heartily, Jayden retorted, "well then, we can always get a bunch of us and just watch movies and have a few beers?"

"Sounds perfect!"

An hour later, me, Felix, Bella, Jayden, Eleanor, Klaus and Bates we're sitting in Bella's room watching a film whilst throwing snacks at each other and arguing (the usual).

"Yeah, well you smell like shit!" Bella yelled launching her bowl of potato chips at full speed towards Klaus' face.

Klaus dodged and shrugged, his body worn down by Bella's hilarious insults, and took one of the dozens of potato chips that scattered across the bed like a herd of animals, plopping it into his mouth.

All of a sudden, soft chimes could be heard emitting from Jayden's pocket. His hand dived in and immediately pulled out his cellphone.

"Beta Jayden," he answered.
