If I sink down beneath the waves
Will you dive down to save me?
Breathe your breath into my lungs,
Your lips against mine
Like they haven't been in so long.
I've been sitting under the waves,
Trying to drown out thoughts of you.
But when storms rage,
The waves tower overhead.
And all that rises up must crash down;
Scars streaking across my skin.
Aren't stars kind of like waves?
Too many to name,
All compiled into one great beauty.
But if every star is a wish,
Is every wave a curse?
Never again will I be able to find you
In the sea surrounding me.
Curses and words, fights in the night,
Sober now and "I'm sorry".
Bottles and bedsheets,
Paper hearts and empty minds;
Numbed to nothingness.
Down here, there's no air to breathe,
No troubles to name,
No words to say.
But I'm drowning in my thoughts
And there's no one to save me here.
Hold me close, keep me near,
Wipe away my tears.
They're falling,
You just can't see them.
I'm drowning in a sea of tears.
Just press your lips to mine,
Drain the water from the ocean.
You know it's your time,
But you'll never come back to me.
Bruises and scars;
I know you tried so hard.
Spilling oil into my ocean,
Spilling the poison into my mind.
Down here, there's no air to breathe,
No troubles to name,
No words to say.
