Reina's POV
"I want you three to assist me in a little guidance." I point at them. "You will train with me to take down Kei Watanabe." I said to them. "Why bring the two humans?" Jirou asks me. "Toyama, you're amazing at swordsmanship and you're quick." I exclaimed. "With Arita, she's good at directions and is a natural leader in my opinion." I smiled. "If we used all your skills together, we'd overwhelm him, that's why I'm preparing you all." I pulled out my gun. "Kaito, let's do gun training." I pulled her. "Jirou and Toyama, hang out, train and fight each other." I instructed them.
"So tedious." I snickered as she accidentally doesn't shoot at the bullseye.
"Let me help you." I position her gun and make sure she is straight. "Shoulders up." I tell her. "Fire." I instruct her. She hits the bullseye. "Woah, you're a genius." Kaito tells me.
"Ever wondered why a mother bird eats her children?" I ask her.
"Disease, maybe?" She answers.
"Sort of correct, but it's if they don't know what to do or for nourishment." I respond. "That's what Kinuko is like, after the Washuu massacre, she felt this hunger and thirst from being free." I said.
"But no one knew that you'd be a Washuu, what do you thrive off?" Kaito asks me. I rub my chin and scratch my hair.
"Honestly, I can't answer that." I said confused. "Coming back after a month feels weird, it's so weird things happen so fast." I said.
"It does feel like it was quick, but it's because when it happens, it dreads on in time but it feels quick." Kaito reloads her gun and shoots at the target. "Honestly, Sensei, I'm glad you came back quick." She turns around and smiles at me. "It makes me happy.""What happened here?" I come back to find Toyama wheezing on the floor.
"I TOLD YOU TO GO SLOW, YOU JERK!" Toyama chases Jirou with his sword.
"THAT'S DANGEROUS, KNOCK IT OFF!" Jirou cries.
"Jeez, is this what I missed a month of?" I groaned.
"Yeah." Kaito turns her head to me.
"HEY!" I shouted to them. "I have to attend a meeting, you all can join, it's with Matsuri." I tell them.
"Matsuri Suzuki?" Jirou asks.
"Yeah, he's a relative of mine, he invited me to his office to chat." I tell him.
"I guess why not, I want to know some things, wished we had Usui with us." Toyama says. We head to Matsuri's office and knocked on the door. "It's Reina." I tell him. We open the door and he sits there, pouring coffee.
"Welcome." He tells us. "You really want to know everyone about your father and yourself?" He asks me.
"Yes, sir." I respond. We sit on the couch and Matsuya cleans his glasses.
"When Hayase was born, it caused quite a ruckus, he was a half human, unlike my father and myself, who are ghouls." He tells me. "My father and your father did get along well, but your father was quite rebellious."
"What makes you say that?" Kaito asks.
"He wanted to live a peaceful life with a family, and marry a woman with smarts and importance." He responds. "He became a prominent investigator and a pretty charismatic one, always decorating his coat with colorful buttons and patches, they called him The One that Hates Monochrome."
"That's a stupid name." Jirou says.
"Well he did hate things being bland." Matsuri laughs.
"How did my father die, did I cause it?" I ask him.
"Woah, let me tell you." He tells me to calm down.
"After you were born, it was hot water."
"They found out I was a half-human, is that right?" I ask him.
"Yeah." He coughs. "He cut ties with the family, we couldn't even acknowledge him, and he took your mother's name." He says. "Last time I saw him, he said you had a cold and had to rush home, later my father called your mother and she said he wasn't home, for nearly a day." He tells me. "Don't worry, Kinuko wasn't involved, I believe."
"Who killed my father?" I ask him. "I'm not sure, honestly, they never disclosed it." He sighs. "I was a teenager when he died, my father went over to your mother's place for condolences after the funeral, and your brother just glared at me, like he knew me." He says. "He looked so sad." He sheds a tear. "That day made me hate myself." He says.
"Why didn't you tell us this sooner, we couldn't have lost all these people?" Toyama asks. "Is it because you were scared she would kill you?" "Calm down, Toyama, we already riddled him out of questions." I tell him.
"No, I want to know, Reina wouldn't have had to leave us for some time to find her aunt that you knew was a Washuu, hiding these secrets, I don't get it."
"We got to get going, thank you for telling us this." I tell Matsuri."Oh, jeez, Power Rangers are back." Amano groans as we get back.
"Come on, moron, one more chapter and you'll be done." Mariko tells him, hitting his head. "Usui, you're all done?" Kaito asks her.
"Yeah, it was easy after all." She says, reading a book.
"Hide went to go see Kaneki." Mariko tells me. "So it's up to us to make dinner?" Amano groans again.
"Groan one more time, I'll smack you again." Mariko threatens him.
"Easy on the threats." Toyama tells her.
"You should seen worse, she threatened to cut my heart out." Jirou tells him.
"What do you guys want, my treat?" I ask them. "Curry, I guess." They said.
"Usui, it is your night." I point to her.
"Alright." She closes her book and heads to the kitchen. Something is bothering her.I knock on Haruki's door. "Dinner's ready." I tell him. He opens the door.
"Thanks, I'm starving." He says. "Hey, Toyama, does it taste good?" He asks him.
"Yeah, bit spicy though." Toyama responds. "Jeez, this artificial food sucks ass." Jirou says. "Be lucky you are eating actual food, not human." I tell him as we sit down. We pray and start eating.
"How's training been?" Naito asks us.
"Good, I got a bullseye." Kaito responds.
"Wasn't talking to you, was talking to Kishimoto."
"Surprisingly well." Kishimoto replies.
"I heard the 3rd Generation Qs want to train with me and Usui, doesn't that sound good?" Amano tells us.
"You sure, I'm not the best fighter." Usui tells him.
"I guess so." I ate my curry.
"Come, Usui, I'll teach you basic moves!" Amano pressures her. She clenches her eye.
"May I be excused?" She says as she runs to her room.
"Poor kid, somethings up with her." Haruki mumbles."Come on, Usui, you barely ate your food." Amano knocks on the door.
"She's probably tired." Naito groans. "Let her be, she is always by herself." Naito says.
"You never understand, don't you?" Amano confronts her. "She is your colleague, you help someone if they are in trouble." Amano says. "Usui, it's just me, let me in." Amano tells her. "Remember when you helped me with that reading assignment, and when you taught me to study in The Academy, what happened to that?" He questions her."Jeez, she's never like this." I said. Usui opens the door and takes off the eyepatch on her right eye.
"I can't control myself." She cries, her kakugan is bright red, and the veins are popping out. "Please, just make it stop, why did I have to become a Quinx?!" She cries and falls to the floor. "I became a Quinx to protect you, Usui, not that I wanted to." Amano says. "I thought you were human?"
"Well I became one because I thought it would be perfect to experiment on myself, you know?"
"You didn't have to do that." He told her. I left them be after. I didn't know that would be the reason she became a Quinx."Haruki, remember when I told you I was born a half-human?" I ask him as he comes in my office. "Yeah, how come I wasn't?" He asks.
"I'm not sure, but since our father was a half-human, we both should've been half-human due to the genetics."
"Maybe it's cannibalism?" Haruki thinks.
"Not sure why Mother would do that." I write.
"If you really think about it, half-humans aren't common in the Clan, since they have shortened lifespans, they usually are washed into society." I said.
"You mean, you don't have much time left?" Haruki catches his breath.
"I'm not sure when I die." I said. "I'm talking to Dr. Shiba tomorrow, I'll explain it. ""Your killing youself." He tells me.
"What?" I ask him. "You're using your kagune and power too much, resulting in accelerated aging." He informs me. "See this, this is your Rc cell chart, it's at 7,000 already due to ghoul cannibalism you committed." He shows me.
"I guess I have been suppressing my Rc cells, honeslty." I smirk. "I just want to be stronger." "You need to relax yourself, you're on the verge of collapsing." He said as I leave his office. I head by my office and I quietly close the door.
"Killing myself?" I ask myself. I shed a tear, which is the color of blood. "Oh, I guess I am going to die." I smiled. "But not yet, I can't die yet, I need to continue to live on, I need to end Kinuko."
