Big thanks to Naito for making me get onto weights now. I have been trying to regain the strength I lost from the last mission three years ago. It's never been this hard.
"Come on, Sensei, lift it!" She rallies me on. I finish the squat and immediately collapse. "I think we're good for the day, don't you think?"
"Yeah, my legs are a little weaker today than yesterday, sorry." I say as she helps me up and hands me my cane.
"Really shouldn't have fought Satoru and that girl a few weeks ago, you know." She tells me. "It weakened you a bit more."
"I know, I know, it's just I hate being this weak."
"I understand." She says to me. "That's why I'm going to make you stronger than before!" She sticks her thumb out at me.
"Hey, Sensei." Jirou comes into the training room. "Squad meeting!"
"Oh I think I know what this meeting is going to be about." Naito smirks.
"About what?" I asked.
"Come on, granny." She grabs me and we walk out of the room.
"Slow down, Marikou!"

"We have the date for the next mission." Jirou tells all of us. "It is going to be in July, and this time we will be split up again, like the mission three years ago."
"This mission will be operated by Jirou and Suzuya this time, as we are focused on one thing only, the team of Erik Kioshi and Satoru Nobuyuki, they are prepared to be having a big meet up with other ghoul squads that day, and we are required to capture them."
"Why not just killing them?" Naito asks. "Those bastards have been causing hell all this time."
"It is on my orders, if we kill them, Oslo will destroy all of us and take over, and we don't want that to happen, right?" Jirou explains to us. "You know what happened last time a higher up was killed." He talks about Tsubasa, which makes Kaito a little upset.
"This mission is going to be needing a lot of the strong hands, Sensei, are you able to be stronger by then?" Amano asks me.
"Yeah, I'm sure of it." I answer.
"Usui has also been signed on as a commander, she's going to be sitting with Mabuchi and Marude with this one."
"She's really going to be taking over someday, that's amazing." I smirked.
"Is everyone clear with these plans?" Kaito asks all of us, and we assured her we got them.
"My uncle trusts Usui that much? That's new." I laughed.
"Yeah, he's very high on her apparently, last year during a mission he was very adamant that she did not fight so he could teach her his commanding ways." Amano says to me
"Oh god, he's going to make her into a little soldier." I joked.

"How has your rehabilitation been, Rei?" My uncle asks me as I head to his office.
"Could be better though, I'm tired of Naito making me feel like I'm in the military." I groaned. "She's constantly having me wake up early to do these workouts that make no sense, however it did help me lose the cane for bits of time."
"Good, it was making you look older than you are." He said. He closes the door to his office. "Rei, it's about time we have a talk." He sits down in his chair, and I go sick down in the chair near his desk. "It's about the future."
"You found out about my health, didn't you?" I asked him.
"I've known for years." He says. "Two years ago, when we were studying you, what you were doing when you were asleep, we looked at your RC levels and heart and everything, we found things that were unusual."
"Unusual?"
"Your RC levels were in the ten thousands." He pulls out a document from his desk. "It must've been when you were stuck under that thick flesh, you consumed it."
"Yeah, I guess so." I smirked. "I never committed ghoul cannibalism and had done all of that shit."
"Yeah, I know, but your charts were something we've never seen before, Furuta, a half human turned into a ghoul, his were remarkable, but not like this."
"My age is accelerating quick, right? That's how it was three years ago."
"Well, kind of." He hands me my file. "It's stopped."
"How so?" I look through it. "My RC levels were low from the last time I got a check up with Shiba."
"We think it might've been something in the flesh that slowed down your aging, healed you in some way." He theorized. "That's why we need to believe that She is still alive, this could help create a medicine to expand half humans lifetimes. If we somehow create a kakuja again or cause her to, we can take some of the flesh and make it into a medicine."
"Some members from Q Squad are half human, correct?"
"Yes, Hsiao just came back after an absence due to a breakthrough." He tells me.
"Damn it, I hate being weak." I tell myself. "I missed all this time, everyone's ahead of me, I'll just be a burden in this mission."
"You don't have to be apart of this mission, you know?" He tells me. "You could be with me and Usui."
"Yeah, no thank you." I declined.

"Sensei!" Amano shouts for me as I'm going on a run. "Care if I join?"
"Yeah, if you want to catch me when I finish." I answered back.
"Sure!" He says as he runs beside me. "I can't believe the mission is in two weeks, I'm pretty nervous for it, this is the first time me and Toyama are teaming together."
"You guys never teamed with each other?" I ask surprised. I thought I teamed them before, I'm not sure.
"Nope, he would always be with the ghouls, despite his human ass, you'd think he'd fall behind." He laughed. "Toyama was always considered someone who despite being a human, he was an enigma."
"Aura really prided on him, she was very proud that he was able to be in my squad." I said. "She called him her best student, we would hold competitions and throw food at him for him to cut, and he never missed."
"He's always been someone who could've been the next Arima, but not as a half human, but as a whole." I said. "He reminds me of myself when I was his age, after the Dragon War, getting my footing and leading this squad." I said. "I don't want to be behind, now."
"Me too." He says to me as he starts to run ahead.
"Wait up, jerk!" I shout at him.
"High knees, Sensei, high knees!" He shouts back, smirking in his usual way.

"I think I'll be good to go for the mission." I said to Haruki as I was lifting weights in the training room. "Spar with me again." I sat it down.
"You sure, Rei, you're still probably very weak still."
"I'm fine, Haruki." I stretch. "I'm not as thick as I used to be though, maybe this will be easier for me."
"Okay." He says to me. I stretch and then I get into position. I rush towards him and go for a punch, to which he blocks. He then strikes me but I'm able to dodge it by sliding under him.
"Remember when we were kids and we would play around in that forest?" I asked him as I kicked his leg and he missed. "With those toy guns and sticks, we acted like dad?"
"I would always win?" He smirked as he went to punch my stomach but I bent back and flipped over. "You weren't always the best fighter, especially against me."
"I am now." I said louder as I kicked his back, and he drops to the floor. "Beat your ass then, and I beat yours still today."
"You're ready for the mission?"
"I'm hoping she's alive, I'm damn ready."
