"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT FOR?" I shouted at Naito as I slapped her in the hallway at the TSC building. "I told you to stop going by Oslo bases after I came back, and you disobeyed me." I scold. "Now two of your allies are hurt, Kaito has it worse, she finally enabled her kagune but exhausted herself." I scolded her.
"Sensei!" She raises her voice. "It was Jirou's idea, I went with him because he told me to, he did it so you didn't have to inflict pain on the team." She explains. Silence brews as I turn around and rest my head on the wall.
"Go see them, I'll catch up in a bit." I sigh as I see her walk by. I grab my cane and it across the hallway, as I sit down and rest my head in my palms. "Fucking hell." I whispered and whip the tears on my face as I go to grab my cane, limping as I pick it up.

"Sensei!" I see Jirou wave as I enter the room. "Hey, how have you been healing?" I ask him as I sit down in a chair nearby.
"Well, my arm regenerated easily." He shows as he waves again.
"That's a great thing, usually I thought it would take longer since you have a higher RC rate." I believed.
"I'm gonna go check on Kaito." I get up.
"She might be still asleep, the nurse told me." Jirou said to me as I left. I opened the door to her room, and see her turned on her left side, facing the window. Her shirt is lifted, where I can see a bit of her back. I'm feeling a bit curious, so I'm going to check where her kagune came from. I pulled up a chair quietly and lifted the back of her shirt, seeing the little reminisce of the kagune flesh, which is slowly fading again.
"Jirou?" I hear her mumble. "Mom." I hear her whimper, which makes me step back. "Please, come back, I'm so sorry for not helping you." She mumbles. "He was big and scary." It's almost like she is talking in a childlike manner, a lost child. I remember when I took that mission during the auction arc, and I met someone which changed my views.

"Marude, are you good being by yourself as a newcomer?" Akira asks me.
"Oh of course,it's easy, I'll save those children." I told her, as I hung up and I get to the building. I went through the back because it seemed to be open, however, a little party was going on in the front, so it might be a bit difficult if culinary comes by. I digged into my investigator jacket to put my phone away, as I head to the upstairs, where I think the children are held. "Suzuya gave me this knife, might come in use." I told myself as I grabbed it from my pocket. I head by one of the doors and I cracked it open, where I see one of the men just cutting flesh, I'm not sure if it's a child. I can't barge in, he's a tree towards me, but however, I peek and see another child, a brown haired light gray eyed girl, just staring at me, like she is signaling me. I need to get in there, this energy is building up. I barge into that room and lunge at the man, who is trying to yank me off. I stabbed him in the head and he dropped on the floor, sending me onto the bed with the flesh. "Don't look." The brown haired child tells me. "That's the last one before me." She points, as I turn and see the body of a dead child. I audibly gasped as I get out of the bed quickly. "I'm so sorry." I cried.

"What is your name?" I go up to the brown haired girl, whose eyes were bulging out of her head from shock. "I'm a good guy, I'm an investigator, my name is Reina, call me Rei." I introduced to her.
"Kaito." She let's out under her breathe as I hear footsteps coming our way. I get her onto my back as I dart out of the room and onto the roof.
"We'll escape through here, don't worry, trust me!" I shouted to her as I threw her up onto the roof. I take a minute to sigh as I hear her scream as I see one of the men getting onto the room. "Shit, Kaito, close your eyes!" I shouted as I activated my kagune to block one of his attacks. "I know I don't look the strongest, but trust me, hurry and run!" I looked at her as I blocked one of the attacks, which pierces my arm. I sent one of my tentacles to attack him, but he was quick to block it. He's not a talker, he's mumbling incoherence. "YOU SLAUGHTERED CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, TORN APART, YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!" I screamed as I pierce the man in the chest with all my tentacles. I throw him off of the roof as I sigh. "I got him." I'm out of breathe, I got to find that child. I turned around and see another one of the men, with a long sword. I gasp loudly as I close my eyes, but my head stays in place. His head was gone as I open my eyes. I see a hooded figure.  "Who are you?" I get up and I look for the child. He puts his hood down and I gasp. "Akira told me about you." I tell him as I hear CCG pull up. I turn my head as I hear the sirens and he leaps off of the building. I go behind the air conditioner and see Kaito, hovering with a blanket. "Hey, come on, some people are here to help you." I told her. "Who gave you this blanket?" I asked her.
"That man with the three fingers." She tells me.
"Take her into care, she's at least around ten years old." I told the investigators as they swipe the place.

"Well done, Marude."
"I didn't do well." I told the investigator, who looks shocked. "I could've saved more children, and I was too late." I grit my teeth.
"Reina, you did save one, be grateful and happy." She says as she turns into the building.
"Here." I see a hand shove me a cup of coffee. It was Kei, who still towered over me. "It's cold out, take a drink." He says as I sip it.
"Hows the kid?" I ask him.
"She's doing good, but still, that shellshock face she had." He explains. "Can't describe it."

I didn't see Kaito for another 6 years, after the war and when everyone was getting comfy into the new system. I was rising through the ranks astonishingly, with the partnership with Kaneki's friend, Hide.
"Marude, Nagachika, time to get your own squad." Suzuya tells us. "
This early?" I ask a question. "We still have Suzuya and Quinx Squad, why have another squad?"
"We want to see how ghouls and humans co exist as a squad, since you're a half ghoul, we decide to experiment."
"I see what you mean, but what if losing control?" Hide asks.
"Do the procedures you're instructed to." He says.

"We have to handpick them?" I say shocked as we head back to my apartment and drop the massive folder on my counter.
"We got a week to finish it, so let's get started quickly." He says as he sits down. I open the folder and hand him the files that says ghouls. I grab the human ones. "A bunch of them are qualified, however, we need to select three for each, plus, a special one is in these files." He tells me.
"Shima Toyama, eighteen years old, son of two wealthy investors in Tokyo." I read. "Who the fuck becomes a investigator when they're wealthy, no vengeance." I thought to myself. "He's an expert at swords, you should see that kid slice!" Hide gets excited.
"Trained by Aura." I said. I placed his file on the side of maybe, as I quickly go through a bunch of others.

"Etsu Usui, almost 17 years old, most intelligent and educated student in TSC history, with a IQ of 173." I read out loud, and I show Hide.
"Well I think I found my first ghoul!" Hide says. "Mariko Naito, a halfie, almost eighteen, strongest in the class!" He gets excited.
"Alright calm down." I said as I showed him Usui. "We need this type of strength for a squad, having a highly intelligent one is the easiest to decipher things." I explained.
"I'll have her." I said as I placed her in the yes pile, with Shima Toyama and Mariko Naito. "Jirou Kishimoto, same age as Naito, childhood friends, he is emotional, but is strong at fast attacks for a Koukaku kagune." Hide reads. "Woah, he looks cool." I said as Hide showed me a picture.
"He's a full ghoul, with a strong mindset." Hide says as he plays him in the yes pile. "Yukio Amano, almost seventeen, least intelligent in the class, however is the quickest to fight, but here's the kicker, he's a Quinx." Hide hands me the file as I pour me and him a glass of wine.
"You think we could handle someone with that much prescribed medication?" He asks me.
" At least we know how much and if he is using it correctly, we have that smart chick in the squad pile, so yeah." I assumed as I hand him the glass of wine. I went through all my piles with uninterested vibes as I finally stack them up. "I didn't like most of the humans ones, I'll look later." I get up. Hide leaves and I lie on my couch. "Take that look from off your face, will ya?" I hear my mother tell me in my mind, as I'm sort of frowning. I get up and went through the human pile again, since I need another human, but I didn't like any of the others, they seem overqualified, and I hated it. I grab a file that I think I didn't open it up, and I froze.

"Kaito..." I mumbled as I touch the picture. "Kaito Arita, just turned sixteen years old." I first read. Medium length brown hair, with those light gray eyes. "Graduated early as Salutatorian, second to Etsu Usui, weak on fighting, but is a natural born leader and great strategist." I read, it was signed by Marude, my uncle. I placed that file in the yes, pile, finishing off my squad preparations.
