Why is Everyone Related!?

I stood in utter darkness. I had no weapons and I was alone. I stared into the abyss, not sure where I was or what I was doing here. The landscape suddenly shifted to the top of Beacon Tower. The giant Grimm Wyvern towered over me, and Cinder stood at its feet.

"You poor boy, cursed to bring only death to this world," she sneered.

"No... no you're wrong, I..." I mumbled.

"You are the Harbinger of Grimm. There is no escape from your plague," she sneered.

A horde of Grimm surrounded us, and all I could see was her evil grin as they all stood around me.

"The only way to prevent more of this destruction... is to end it all,"

"No... no, I won't. I can't leave Ruby, I need her..." I mumbled.

Cinder laughed as she smiled more. I felt my arm warming up, and a wet feeling all over it.

"Sorry to break it to you honey, but you already have," she sneered.

I looked down at my arm, a giant gash in from my wrist to the inside of my elbow. I freaked out and with a slight yell...

I woke myself up. I sat up in a hurry, a bead of sweat on my forehead. I check my wrist, and while I found no blood, I saw a very distinct scar from my wrist to my inner elbow. The jagged star at the wrist from where I stabbed that metal shard and the long cut along my forearm was pale compared to the rest of my skin. My other arm had an IV in it, and I saw the vitals monitor next to the small bed I was in. The room I was in was very homey, and seemed like a bedroom rather than any hospital room.

"Where am I?" I mumbled.

The light shined through a window next to me, and I saw trees outside. I could see the trunks of the tree, so I knew I wasn't anywhere near Beacon. I decided I wasn't going to sit around and wait for the answer to fall in my lap. I tore the IV out of my arm and put on a long-sleeve shirt that was next to the bed. My hand blocked out the bright sun as I walked out of the large house. The landscape was simple and beautiful, but I still had no idea where I was.

"Finally awake,"

Qrow stepped out from the side of the house, and started walking towards me.

"Hey old man, where are w..." I didn't finish my sentence.

His fist came across my face, knocking me to the ground instantly.

"Are you fucking kidding me? You say how much you love my niece and yet try to kill yourself while she's unconscious!" Exclaimed Qrow.

I stood up dumbfounded, I was shocked once again as I learned he was her relative.

"Oh for crying out loud! First Yang is her sister, now you're her uncle, what's next? Am I her goddamn brother or some shit?!" I exclaimed.

Qrow stayed silent, and I couldn't tell what he was thinking as he stared at me with no deference away from me.

"What did you expect me to do? I got my teammates killed. I brought ruin to Vale, it's my fault Beacon happened," I said.

Qrow said nothing. I couldn't read him, I had no idea what was happening.

"Well?! Aren't you livid?! Are you not gonna beat me to a pulp and then stop me from being with Ruby?!"

Still nothing...

"Can you just fucking say something so I know what the hell is happening?!"

"I don't know what to say to you. I'm disappointed in you, and I'm scared for Ruby," said Qrow.

"Does she know?" I asked.

"She knows you have the scar, but as far as she knows, it was Cinder who did that," answered Qrow.

It relieved me a little know Ruby didn't know the truth.

"How long are you planning on lying to her though?" Asked Qrow.

"I don't want to hurt her, and telling her what I did is only gonna hurt her," I said.

I turned my head away from Qrow, not wanting to meet his gaze in fear of the guilt growing further.

"We've all agreed that we won't tell Ruby about what really happened, but I do believe you should tell her yourself soon. Sometimes lying can hurt someone more than being truthful," said Qrow.

Qrow went inside the house, leaving me outside with my thoughts. I can't risk hurting her again, besides, as long as she doesn't know then she won't be hurt. I walked over to the side of the house, and heard voices. Walking around to the back I saw Ranger and Jaune embraced in a hug.

"Uh, guys?" I asked.

Jaune and Ranger hesitantly let go of each other, my team leader wiping a few tears from her eyes.

"You're awake," said Ranger, a little shakily.

"Yeah, where are we?" I asked.

"We're in Patch, an island off the coast of Vale. We're at Ruby's home," explained Jaune.

As though she heard her name mentioned, Ruby ran through the back door of the house and looked a little panicked.

"Have you guys seen Haly?! He wasn't in the room and..." exclaimed Ruby.

She saw me standing next to Ranger and Jaune, turning to rose petals and rushing me. She surrounded me in a tight hug, her head dug into my shoulder.

"Haly! You're ok!" She exclaimed.

I returned the hug, and Ruby soon pulled my head down to hers for a kiss. Her kiss was heaven, and as we separated I quickly pulled into another hug.

"I was so worried when they told me what Cinder did," she mumbled to me.

"It's alright Ruby, I'd never let anyone take me from you," I told her.

It hurt. Even though I was trying to keep her from being hurt by me, it hurt to lie to her.

"Now that you're awake we can go!" Exclaimed Ruby.

"Go where?" I asked.

"Just because Beacon fell doesn't mean we're not gonna stop being Huntresses and Huntsman. We'll need to be ready when we ever have something like that happen again," explained Ruby. "We're heading towards Mistral to Haven Academy."

Ren and Nora walked out of the house as well, meaning JNPR was here as well... or at least most of them...

"We'll let you get your stuff together so we can leave together," said Ruby.

I went into the house and back to the room I woke up in. My leather jacket was lying on a chair, with my chain and gun on top of it. It felt good to have my jacket on again. I opened the action on Old '87 and a shell flew out... my shell. They didn't empty my gun. I reluctantly pocketed the shell, and got my weapons on my back. Walking out into the hallway was like a trip down memory lane. I'd never been in this place before but I couldn't help but be reminded of the tree-lined road as I left my parent's covered wagon. It was nearly identical in feeling, the only difference was hope. I was void of hope as I traversed the hall. Nothing brought any hope to me, until I opened the door and was greeted by the silver eyes of the girl I love.

"Ready to go?" Asked Ruby.

She reached out to me, and I took her hand, the hope warming my heart. I didn't smile, but holding her hand brought me a comfort I desperately needed.

"Let's go," I said.
