I hate the spotlight, but now that everyone knows I'm dating Ruby I can't escape it. We're the talk of the school, the edgy asshole dating the hopeful cinnamon roll. Everyday was a struggle to avoid people constantly questioning us about our relationship, and the Beacon Dance was going to make it impossible. I was wearing a suit, and good lord was it uncomfortable. As I walked out of my dorm with Old '87 and my chain on my back, a hand rested on my shoulder. I turned to see Qrow behind me, and his hand on my shoulder.

"Any particular reason you're taking your weapon with you to a dance?" Asked Qrow.

"I never go anywhere without a way to fight Grimm," I said.

Qrow sighed a little as he took a drink from his flask.

"If your semblance was going to bring any Grimm here, it would've done so already," said Qrow.

"Even so, I'll be ready when they do come," I said.

Qrow sighed again, but gave me an accepting smile.

"Have fun tonight," said Qrow.

The old man walked back down the hall, letting me go to the RWBY dorm in peace. As I knocked on the door, Another boy answered, one in a rather fancy suit and a very Atlesian flair to him.

"Is Ruby ready to go?" I asked a little confused.

"Miss Rose will be out shortly," answered the boy.

Blake walked over to him and laced her arm around his, the two heading to the dance themselves. As I watched them walk away, a movement of red caught my attention and drew my gaze back to the doorway. Ruby stood in a pair of heels and a red dress, a nervous blush painting her face.

"Well, what do you think?" Asked Ruby.

"You look as pretty as a rose in bloom," I complimented her.

Her blush only got bolder, her arms held in front of her nervously. I turned and offered my arm to her, with a slight blush myself. As she went to step forward, she stumbled and I quickly caught her in my arms.

"Hehe, s-sorry. I'm not used to wearing heels," said Ruby.

I helped her up and made sure she found her balance in the fancy shoes. We made our way down the hall, stopping when we reached the staircase.

"Can we take the elevator?" Asked Ruby.

I looked back at her and thought of a different plan, something she would enjoy a lot more.

"I've got a better idea, hop on," I said.

Her eyes lit up and she was on my back with her arms over my shoulders and legs around my waist in an instant. We smiled to each other as I started down the stairs. Her laugh ringing through my ears as I ran down the stairs was like heaven, I couldn't help but smile. As my feet hit the ground floor I looked back at Ruby, who was smiling ear to ear. She left a peck on my cheek before nuzzling into my shoulder and neck.

"You just really like doing that, don't you?" I asked.

"Maaaybe," said Ruby.

Ruby got off of my back when we got to the doors of the ballroom. I looked over to her and offered my arm to her, the sweet smile on her face giving me a high I couldn't describe. She wrapped her arm in mine as we entered the ballroom. Ruby pulled me instantly to the dance floor, but almost tripped on the way. I caught her in one arm again, using our momentum to twist us back upright.

"Sorry, I'm such a klutz in these heels," apologized Ruby.

"That's ok, I don't mind at all," I said. "But I still don't know how to dance."
