Confession

I woke up with the sun filtering through the a large hole in the abandoned buildings' wall. I breathed in, held in the air, and breathed out. As I did, I felt a little pressure on my chest, as though someone was against me, and that's when it finally hit me, Ruby was wrapped in my arms while she slept. I jumped back from her, freaking out a little, and waking her up.

"What! Huh? What? What's going on?!" Exclaimed Ruby.

She looked at me and saw my more elevated breathing, as well as my hand clutching the barrel of Old '87.

"Are you alright?" Asked Ruby.

"Yeah I'm fine I just... you startled me a little," I said, turning from initially a little worried to near emotionless.

I saw her expression dim slightly, as she held her hands in front of her waist.

"I'm sorry if it was uncomfortable sleeping like that, you just wrapped me in your arms out of the blue and I didn't really want to say anything. I actually enjoyed it a little," said Ruby, very sheepishly.

I felt a little guilt for freaking out like I did, but that was before I saw a pair of bright red eyes start moving behind her.

"RUBY!" I shouted.

As the Grimm Ursa lunged at her, I pushed her away, using the magnets mounted on my left wrist attaching to the chain scabbard on my back, almost instantly pulling my shotgun into my hand, and leaving the 15 foot chain swinging through the air. I flicked my wrist, swinging the chain across the Ursa's throat with enough energy to slice it clean open. As more and more Grimm showed up around us, I looked at a scared Ruby, and knew I had to do something. I flipped my gun, chambering a round as it spun in my hand, taking aim at the ground below Ruby. I fired the flaming lead just short of her, sending her through the floor as a Grimm went to jump at her. As the Beowolf landed on my side of the hole I flicked my chain around its neck, pulling it towards me. I put the barrel of my gun against its head, and fired the blast through it, killing a Boarbatusk Grimm on the other side as well. As more Grimm started to show up and move towards the hole that lead to the basement floor I sent Ruby to, I was practically enveloped in an attacking shield made from my swinging chain that kept all the Grim away from the hole as I blasted them left and right. I emptied the tube magazine, jumping down the hole with Ruby.

"Let's go!" I shouted.

I grabbed her hand and practically dragged her through the basement. I let go of her hand, as we both ran down a long hallway, and I reloaded my gun with more fire dust rounds, and one wind dust in the chamber. We reached a big cellar door, and tried to push it open, but it wouldn't budge. Ruby looked back at the Grimm approaching us fairly rapidly.

"Um, Halcyon?!" Exclaimed a worried Ruby.

I put my hand out and brought her behind me as I aimed my wind dust shell at the door. With a massive boom, I blew the door apart, twisting Ruby around to exit the building. As I faced the horde of Grimm approaching me, I pulled a small metal bottle off of my belt. I threw it down the hall, rechambering a round in Old '87.

"Burn in Hell you soulless beasts," I mumbled.

With a steady squeeze of the trigger, I blew apart the metal container, igniting the large quantity of fire dust within, sending a column of pure flame through the Grimm ranks, incinerating many of them instantly. As flame coated the walls in front of me, I flicked my wrist, sending my chain back to my back in the shape of its scabbard form again, and putting Old '87 away. I walked out of the cellar door cleaning embers off of my leather jacket and saw Ruby still standing there, waiting for me.

"That was a lot of Grimm," said an exasperated Ruby.

"Why are you still here?" I asked.

"I..I just thought you'd still want to go to Beacon together," said Ruby, looking a little hurt by what I said.

I felt more guilt from being so blunt, turning my head slightly in shame.

"Sorry, I'm just used to people running away from me when I do that," I said.

"Do what?" She asked.

"It's my semblance. I have no way to turn it off or control it. I'm a walking Grimm magnet," I said just louder than a mumble.

Ruby walked up to me and hesitantly went to reach for my hand.

"Maybe Beacon can help you learn to control it?" She said, her hopeful tone filling my ears.

As hesitantly as she had, I took her hand in mine, hope filling my heart slightly. She smiled slightly, as we walked together, heading towards Beacon Academy.
