I walked up to the RWBY dorm and stood at the door. I knocked on the door hesitantly, half expecting Ruby to answer. Instead, it was Yang who answered. We looked at each other for a second, until Yang drove a fist into my diaphragm, knocking the wind out of me instantly. I fell to my knees, holding my gut.

"What the fuck is your problem!?" I said through gritted teeth.

"You're my damn problem asshole," said Yang.

I stood up, still catching my breath.

"What did I ever do to you?!" I demanded.

"You broke my sister's heart, that's what," she said.

I looked at her with shock and remorse in my eyes, but saw nothing but hate and anger in her bright red eyes.

"Ruby's your sister?" I asked.

Yang said nothing, just keeping her fist clenched.

"I wasn't trying to break her heart. I was just trying to protect her," I said.

"Well that didn't work now did it? You wanna know why she hasn't been in classes? Because she couldn't stop crying for several days. Because I can't get her to leave this room. I can hardly get her to eat much, she doesn't want to do hardly anything anymore, because of you," said Yang.

This isn't what I wanted. I was only trying to keep her from being hurt by me, but all it did was exactly that, hurt her.

"I'm sorry, I never wanted this, I just wanted to keep my semblance from hurting anyone else," I said.

Silence gripped the hall as I stood before Yang with sadness and regret in my eyes, but Yang's eyes never changed back from red to purple.

"I don't want you near my sister, ever again," Said Yang before closing the door on me.

I held my head low, clenching my shotgun shell tight in my hand.

"Why must I be cursed this way?" I mentally asked myself.

I felt my scroll buzz in my pocket, and saw a message from Ranger.

"Get RWBY to Oobleck's, we're deploying with them on their shadowing mission, not enough teachers to go around,"

"Gods dammit," I mumbled.

I knocked on the door again, but this time I heard the action of a shotgun before the door opened and Yang aimed her gauntlet at me.

"Do you want to get shot?!" Demanded Yang.

"Calm the fuck down, RHSN is going with Oobleck too, and he's almost ready so you better get that way too," I said.

"Are you kidding me?!" Said Yang.

I showed her the message from Ranger.

"Whatever, just stay away from Ruby and it'll be fine," said Yang.

I left towards my teams' dorm, Ranger tossing me my shotgun and chain as I passed by. We made our way down to the aircraft pad, where Oobleck and Team RWBY were waiting for us. I looked over and saw Ruby, and it hurt to see her without her usual cheery expression. She held her head slightly lower, with her silver eyes dimmed by sorrow. I walked onto the Bullhead and sat down, the rest of our combined group soon loading up as well. We rode in complete silence, no one spoke to anyone, not between teams or even amongst themselves. As I looked over my gun and ammo, Ranger handed me an earpiece attached to a radio.

"In case we get separated," said Ranger.

We eventually landed at our area of operation, an abandoned city, one intended to be completely impenetrable from the Grimm. We found shelter within an abandoned skyscraper, giving us our primary campsite. I stood looking out a massive hole in the wall, watching a group of massive Mammoth Grimm walking through the nearby forest.
