A Break For Love

The days went by as we all started training again. Everyone found themselves falling into routines eventually. Ranger and Jaune would spar out in the courtyards, and then in the evenings they would work on his Aura control. Ren and Nora would bounce back and forth between wild and fast training and a slow technique driven style, perfectly paralleling their personalities. Ruby would practice with me quite often, but I know she had to slow down for me on account of my sleep deprivation. I would wake up every night either screaming, in a cold sweat, crying or all of the above. The dreams weren't stopping, and it was driving me nuts. As for Qrow's routine? Well he drank.

A lot.

"Hey, wake up sleepyhead," I heard Ruby say.

I shook in a slight violent manner as her hand touched my shoulder. Ruby stepped back a little worried she'd done something.

"Sorry, startled me a little," I said to her.

"It's fine, I understand Haly," she said as she knelt down next to me. "They're not stopping, are they?"

"No. They're different every time, and yet the same," I explained.

Ruby stood up and took a hold of my hand, pulling me up from the bench I was seated on.

"Where are you taking me," I laughed as she strained to pick me up.

"I've been thinking... we haven't... been on an.... actual date yet!" Strained Ruby as she finally got me up.

Have we really not been on a date? There's no way we haven't, we've been together all this time.

"Sure we have. There was the Beacon Dance, and all the time we spent in the dorms," I said.

"Those don't count. We were always with our teammates at Beacon, and Cinder interrupted our dance," Ruby countered.

I must admit, she did have a point. I pulled Ruby into a hug.

"So, how about we take a break from the training and go out on a date. Just the two of us," proposed Ruby.

"What do you want to do then?" I asked.

Ruby tilted her head for a moment to think, while she tapped on my back periodically.

"How about we go shopping at a few stores, and then we can go catch a movie or something?" Suggested Ruby.

"As long as I'm with you, I'll go," I said.

Ruby grabbed my hands again, as a saw rose petals start to fly around her.

"Wait wait wait!..." I tried to say.

Ruby smirked before everything went red in my vision. After about a minute of watching rose petals fly through my vision I finally landed on my feet in the town outside Haven Academy.

"So where should we start?" Asked Ruby.

"...perhaps with not doing that again," I said, trying to keep myself standing.

Ruby giggled slight as she held a hand in her hair. She took my hand as I finally got over the rapid movement and we started walking through the town. We saw all kinds of people walking the streets. There were performers, singers, musicians; it was like a festival in the town.

"Oh wow! Haly look at him!" Exclaimed Ruby.

She clung to my arm and pointed to a man sitting on a concrete block with a classical guitar. He was playing acoustic but his style and dexterity showed me he was much more suited to an electric axe.

"Damn he's got some agile fingers," I said.

The man was dark skinned with a scruffy grey beard and a tattered old hat. An old school rocker from a time long past.
