The Cursed Heart and The Hopeful Light: Ruby Rose x Male Human(RWBY)

Loss

After we arrived at Beacon, and soon declared by Ozpin what our teams would be. The teams were RWBY, lead by Ruby; JNPR, lead by Jaune; CFVY, lead by Coco; and then my team, RHSN(rhinestone), lead by Ranger. As our teams walked out of the auditorium, I walked up to Team RWBY.

"Hey, Ruby?" I asked.

Ruby lit up slightly as she turned around and saw me, causing a little pain in my heart.

"Halcyon, what's up?" Asked Ruby.

Her ever cheerful tone was making this even harder.

"Can I speak with you? In private?" I asked.

I could see the slight confusion as well as excitement in her silver eyes.

"Um... sure," said Ruby nervously.

We walked off from our teams down another hallway. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, I didn't want to do this, but it's the only way I can keep her safe.

"What did you want to talk to me about?" Asked Ruby.

I clenched my fist, gritting my teeth.

"Ruby, I know you like me," I began.

Her face turned bright red again, as she held her arm at her side with her hand and looked away from me.

"What gave you that crazy idea?" She said, obviously trying weasel away from the truth.

"You're a terrible liar," I said.

She turned a further shade of red, before finally giving in.

"Ok fine. I do have a crush on you," she said quickly.

Every fiber in my body was tense, I could barely feel anything.

"And I have feelings for you," I hesitantly said.

"You do?!" Exclaimed Ruby.

I could feel my nails break skin in my palm, drawing a little blood.

"But we can't be together," I blurted out.

If breaking hearts was audible, you could have heard both of ours from miles away.

"W-What... why?" She pleaded.

"It's too dangerous, my semblance is a pain I won't ever share with anyone again," I said, rather bluntly.

Even with my eyes shut and head down, I could tell there were tears welling up in her eyes.

"I'm sorry. I just don't want to hurt you," I said.

I opened my eyes and saw she was already running down the hall. I turned the other direction and walked down the hall, taking the long way to my dorm.

"Hey kid," said a familiar, raspy voice.

I turned around and saw Qrow, and subconsciously attached my chain to the magnets on my wrist.

"What do you want old man?" I said.

"You should really learn to respect your elders, but I'm not gonna worry about it," he said.

"Whatever, why are you here?" I demanded.

"I'm here because Oz wanted me to keep an eye on you, help you with your semblance," answered Qrow.

"There is no way to help my curse. Believe me, I've tried," I sneered.

"That's what I used to say about my semblance," said Qrow.

I gave him a skeptical look, there's no way anyone else could know my curse.

"My semblance is Bad Luck. Anyone I'm near at some point will be stricken with it. Hell even I'm not safe from it," said Qrow.

"Ok so what, next you're gonna tell me you learned how to control it and now have no problem with it," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Actually no. I can't control my semblance, but I've learned to live with it," explained Qrow.

"So what you're saying is I just need to accept I'm too dangerous for this world," I said.

Qrow walked a little closer to me and put a hand on my shoulder.

"I didn't say that. If there's a way to control your semblance, I will help you find it," he said.

Qrow turned around and started walking down the hall, before stopping and looking at me with a fairly serious expression.

"Bit of advice, shutting people out isn't gonna help you. Besides, that girl's a lot tougher than she looks, she deserves at least a chance," he said.

With that said he walked away, leaving me alone in the hall. I could feel the pain in my heart growing, and I felt I made a mistake. I walked back down the hall to my dorm, collapsing on my bunk, rolling my shotgun shell in my hand.

"You alright Halcyon?" Asked Ranger.

"I'm fine," I lied.

I felt horrible. I didn't know what to do. Ruby is the last person I would ever want to hurt, because I have some semblance of feelings towards her. But what if Qrow is right? What if she can help me control my plague?
