All day I waited for a watcher to tell me to follow them. What I got was Col.
After dinner, he barged into my room, closing the door behind him. He tossed me a black dress.
The dress wasn't exactly the most fancy one, but it was glamorous. I was thankful for the sleeve length, but I wasn't a big fan on how the dress stopped at the middle of my thigh.
When I was finished dressing, I motioned that Col could turn around. He looked me over and nodded.
"Alright. Here's the plan. You are going to seduce Zyrian. I doubt he knows anything, but it will be a good idea to put yourself as his favorite."
I blinked. "You want me to what?" I asked in astonishment.
"Seduce."
"Col, I don't think you understand. I'm not seductive."
Col frowned. "Just do whatever you do already. Zyrian seems to enjoy it. His uncle does, too."
I glared at him.
He smirked. "Just don't trip, and you should be ok."
"Col-" I started, but he cut me off.
"Do not carry any weapons. Remember the rules when in the presence of the vampires."
"Col," I tried again. "What if the vampires try to-"
Col's eyes darkened as they met mine. "I will not let it get that far," he stated in a low voice.
I nodded. Col handed me a weird looking plant. "Eat this."
I put it in my mouth and nearly spat it back out. It tasted like a rotten vegetable crop. I swallowed it, feeling sick.
"What was that?" I asked.
"Protection herb against Zyrian's mind reading. Can't have you mind blabbering our plans."
I didn't say anything because I knew he was right. I hadn't even thought of mind protection since I had already forgotten that Zyrian could read minds. Apparently, he couldn't tell what my name was, though.
Col and I walked to the cross-over point. Col nodded to a fellow watcher before the gates opened.
"Hold your breath," Col murmured in my ear.
I did as he said. I felt a gust of wind surround me. When I opened my eyes, we were in the other world.
"We're going through the rough parts of the vampire world. I want you to stay close. When we get to the club, hold onto me, ok?"
I nodded as we began to walk along the streets. Weird smells filled my nose. I saw buildings everywhere.
When we came to a building that said 'Pulse,' Col gave the man at the door a card. The man looked at the card, at Col, and then at me. He finally nodded and let us in. As soon as we were in, I latched onto Col's leather jacket-covered arm.
Loud music with a hammering beat filled my senses. Different colored lights flashed across the darkened room. The lights were enough to make a person feel dizzy. The air was hot and smelled of blood, sweat, and another foul smell. I wanted to gag.
