The next morning, Melody had awakened me earlier than I was use to.

"Come on, get dressed. We're going to beat the vampires to breakfast this morning," she stated with her hands on her hips.

I groaned, rolling off the bed. I really didn't even want breakfast this morning. I just wanted to go back to sleep and block out the outside world. I dragged myself into the bathroom to go through my closet. I pulled out a layered-brown gypsy skirt with a blue top and a brown sweater over it. I was still getting use to the fact that I now had choices to pick from.

When I glanced into the mirror, I cringed at my state. My hair looked decent enough. However, my neck looked gruesome. The bruises stretched across my neck where Adam had choked me last night. My wrist was fully purple now, but I was able to cover it with the sleeve of my sweater.

Walking out of the bathroom, Melody glanced at my outfit. She smiled. "I like the new clothes," she complemented.

I returned her smile, noticing that she also had a change of clothes. She was dressed in a loose, blue dress with long-sleeves. "Thank you. I like yours as well," I replied.

We left my room and walked down to the dining room. Melody was right. There was hardly anyone here. There was only a group of vampire servants and watchers gathered around a table. Melody and I chose a table on the other side of the room, far away from the vampires.

It was only a moment before a cook brought us two trays with our breakfast on it. Melody stares down at her plate of food in astonishment. Honestly, I didn't know what any of the food was. I knew that I had eggs on here, but that's about it.

     "What is it?" I asked.

She shook her head. "They are actually giving us bacon and pancakes. I always heard about them, but I never had any. They were always for the elite slaves to have. I guess they really are trying to spoil us before they kill us off," she said.

I chuckled. "Or, they are simply trying to fatten us up," I added.

She laughed, bringing her food to her lips. We only said a few words between us ravaging our food. I finally finished my food, turning my attention to Melody.

"So, what are you planning on doing today?" I asked.

Melody shrugged. "I was thinking about staying in my room or seeing if I could go to the slave world. I really want to see Will. What about you?"

"Oh, I was just going to walk around and explore. If you do get to go to the slave world, please tell me. I'd like to go visit with everyone."

She nodded. With that, we went our separate ways. Melody returned to her room, and I began to wander about the castle.

The first floor of the castle was where the dining room and parlor was located. The second floor was the vampire slaves' quarters. The third floor was the entertainment floor. The fourth floor was the main floor, where our rooms were located. The fifth was for the watchers, and the sixth was for the royals.

The sixth floor was off-limits, and I wouldn't dare go to the fifth floor. I only went to the third floor. I hoped to see if they had a library, but all I could find were lounge rooms and fine art rooms. I eventually stumbled upon the library. But, to my luck, it was locked. I growled in frustration, deciding to go outside.

I returned to the first floor. I found that the main door to the outside was guarded by two watchers. I decided to go through a back door that I had stumbled upon earlier. Fortunately, I managed to escape without even being stopped by a watcher.
