Three days. It's been three days since I've talked to Col. I have seen him many times at the meetings, but I haven't told him my decision.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't know what to do. On one hand, I would be working to free the slaves and put an end to the vampires.

Then, there was a chance that I would be putting the ones I care about at risk. I could care less about disloyalty morals that had been beaten into us since we could work. I was only worried about the consequences if this whole rebellion went down in flames.

I was worried because there was a greater chance of this thing failing. It was too good to be true. In a slave's world it was too much to bet on because a life without vampires.... it seemed utterly impossible.

Lately, I had been assigned to work in the index room. My job: file the book information in order. Of course, the files were color coded since they assumed that I was like every other slave that couldn't read.

I was filing the new files when the old woman approached me.

"You will no longer be doing this work."

I raised an eyebrow at her in confusion. The woman held up an open envelope.

"You are one of the chosen; therefore, you are not allowed to work. Apparently, they want their meat in good shape."

I couldn't help but cringe at her word choice.

     "I don't-"

The woman cut me off before I could finish.

"I relieve you of your duties. Good day," she snapped.

I pressed my lips together and watched her walk away. Left dumbfounded, I glanced down at the files in my hand. I shoved them into a drawer before taking my leave.

I began walking down the third floor hall. I noticed that there was a seconds shower room on this floor. A plan of getting an entire shower room to myself started forming in my mind.

My lips twitched into a smile as I began to skip to my room to retrieve my regular clothes. I then started back upstairs and went into the shower room.

Bolting the door closed, I quickly tugged off my maid uniform and tossed it away. Well, I was definitely glad that I wouldn't have to wear that horrid thing again.

I flipped on the knobs and the stream came pouring down my back. I bathed and cleaned myself quickly.

Eventually I was just letting the water run over me as I tilted my head back. The water drummed against my skin, and I found complete comfort in it.

My joy was interrupted when my thoughts began to turn towards my decision. What was I going to tell Col?

I racked my brain with the decision. I wanted to help, but...

I let out a groan as I rested my head against the wall. Finally giving up with the choice, I cut the water and wrapped a towel around me.

I dried off, running the towel through my tangled, wet hair. I then changed into my clothes and left the shower room.

The hall was utterly silent as I made my way to my room. A mouse could be heard in this level of sound.

As I passed a room, the other viewing library caught my eye. It was completely empty.
