It felt like I had only been asleep for minutes before someone shook me awake.

The bald watcher from the train tossed me a pair of black overalls, the usual farming wear. The legs had ripped roles. The man tossed me a long-sleeved, black shirt, as well.

"Get dressed. Make it quick," he said, moving to the other side of the room.

I picked up my clothes and looked at him, waiting for him to leave. However, he made no move to leave.

"Are you completely horrible to not give a girl her decency?" I snapped.

He flashed his fangs in a smile. "You have none. Now, get dressed," he commanded.

I muttered a curse under my breath before turning away from him.

I slipped off my shirt, thankful for my undershirt. I slipped on the black shirt before tugging off my skirt and quickly pulling the overalls on.

I buckled the overalls, turning towards the bald, tattoo-face watcher. He tossed me a pair of black stockings and boots.

With a sigh, I tugged them on and followed him to the fields.

In a way, I was happy to be working in the fields. I would be outside; not crammed inside. Then again, the fields were a brutal place to work in.

The watcher punched in a code as we came to the door. The door buzzed before sliding open.

As I stepped out, I was engulfed in the cool wind. I shivered slightly at first but smiled as I relished the feeling of the wind.

I briefly wondered what month it was. Mother and I would always keep up with the days, months, seasons, and year.

"What's your favorite season, Lia?" she would ask me.

"I love fall because of the pretty leaves, Ma," my six-year-old self would answer.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard the watcher's voice.

"Unless you want to be zapped to the netherworld, I would suggest you wouldn't try anything." He smirked before giving me a shove into the gates and locking the gate behind me.

"Bye, rat." He cackled as he walked off.

I could feel my anger boiling as I picked up a stone, raising it above my head to hurl at him. I stopped myself, but I didn't put the stone up. Instead, I shoved it into my pocket.

I walked over to the slave supply box, grabbing a bucket before going towards the crops.

As I was bending down to begin to uproot one of the ripe vegetables, I felt someone grab my hand.

"What do you think you're doing?" someone snarled at me.

I looked up to see a male slave around eighteen. He had two other male slaves with him. I swallowed before straightening up.

"What was asked of me," I replied, meeting his gaze.

"I don't know what hole you crawled out from, darlin', but this is my section."

"I didn't realize that you owned anything," I shot back.

He snatched me towards him by the straps of my overalls.

"Listen to me. You may be a pretty face inside the manor, but out here, anything can happen," he said, raking his eyes over my body.

I felt my blood boil. Does anyone not have respect?! I clutched the stone in my hand, wanting to bash the slave with it.
