I was forced to wait all day before meeting Col. Col would have to attend to his watcher duties until late into the day. That meant that I would have no choice but to wait until later tonight until we would train.

After dinner and talking to my friends for awhile, I returned to my room to wait for Col. I hung upside down off the bed, eyes trained on the door.

My mind began to wander as I began to hum an old tune my mother used to sing to me. Before I knew it, my eyes slid closed.

It seemed as soon as I closed my eyes, the door to my room opened. I blinked a few times before my eyes settled on Col.

His eyes landed on me hanging upside down. He arched a brow at my odd position, but waved it off with a shake of his head.

"Come on, come on," he said slightly annoyed when I just continued to stare at him.

I rolled off the bed with a groan and trudged along behind a retreating Col.

From where we were, there wasn't any sign of anyone wandering around. However, I knew better than to think that. From what Col had once told me, there were cameras hidden in some of the rooms. With this information in mind, I remained close to Col.

We came to the door leading to the fields. Col took out a piece of distorted metal shaped into a strange key before inserting it into the control panel of the door. The many locks of the door slowly began to unlock. Finally, the door slid open.

With the opening of the door, the chilled wind of the night seeped into the room that we were standing in. My body shivered slightly since I wasn't use to the temperature. One of the downsides of being the vampires' house pet/ slave.

Col stepped out from the room. I crossed my arms over my waist to keep myself warm. It didn't help much, but it was better than nothing.

I wanted to ask where we were going, but the risk of someone overhearing our conversation stopped me from saying anything.

We walked through the many areas of fields before we began to enter the woods. As we walked through the cluster of trees, my mind thought back to the bonfire. I guess you could say I felt a little uneasy about the woods now. In fact, it seems like everything in this place makes me uneasy.

I focused mostly on the crunching sound of the dead, withered leaves beneath our feet. My eyes were glued to my feet as I walked until I walked into Col's back when he came to an abrupt stop. Since I wasn't graceful, I nearly fell to the ground. Just in time, though, I managed to catch myself.

I swung my gaze up to Col and sent him a narrowed-eyed glare. He snickered.

"Well, at least you managed to catch yourself."

He turned and continued to walk. I rolled my eyes at his back.

I couldn't help but wonder if Col was leading me deeper into the woods just so he could kill me and bury my body somewhere around here. I shrugged it off. If he had wanted to kill me already then he probably would have already done it.

At the end of the trail after many turns in the woods, a run-down shack was right in front of us. From the looks of it, any other person would think it was only just a one room place. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if it was bigger on the inside.

Col stepped onto the rotting porch before pushing the door open. The door groaned and scraped against the worn wood as it dragged against the floor.
