CHAPTER 24: We're School Meal Club, Remember?

“... and then she left.”

“Wait, that's it?” Chaeyoung frowned as she sat in front of the Taiwanese by the floor, “You asked her out on a date and she just– ran?”

“I– I am not sure if I understand.” Dahyun butted in, holding her mug of chocolate milk as she sat criss crossed on the couch.

Tzuyu banged her head on the coffee table lightly then gripped her hair like a mad woman. “Me neither. She had been sending me mixed signals these past few weeks and she just...” she couldn't even finish her sentence as she sighed in defeat.

“What kind of signals?” the cub catechized.

“She'd greet me every morning and she's always affectionate around me.”

“I greet you every morning.” Dahyun raised her hand, before continuing her words. “I greet every one a good morning but that doesn't mean I like them.”

Chaeyoung ignored the raven haired girl's words then patted the maknae's back. “Don't worry, Tzu. Maybe she was just surprised by your sudden ‘offer’.”

“Or– or maybe she just didn't want to go on a date with you.” Dahyun added bluntly, and if it was Chaeyoung who said that, Tzuyu would have jumped on her and choke her to death. But it was Dahyun. She was just being honest.

“What's up with you and your bitterness?” Chaeyoung questioned as she faced the older Korean.

Dahyun frowned then took a sip from her mug before answering, “I– I don't have any bitterness.”

Tzuyu groaned which grabbed the two Korean's attentions, “Guys, what should I do?” she practically whined.

“Ask her out again”

“Give her time to think.”

Dahyun and Chaeyoung answered at the same time, confusing the maknae in the process.

Chaeyoung finally faced the older Korean then crossed her arms, “Okay, something's up with you. What is it?”

The raven haired girl put down her mug as her eyes danced around the place as if she was looking for something, then back at the younger Korean. “I believe, we are talking about Tzuyu's problems. Not– not mine.”

Tzuyu noticed the unusual look on the older girl's face so she decided to set aside her unfortunate event then focused on Dahyun. “Well, I'm done talking about my problems. It's your turn.”

“I'm not sure if you can consider it a ‘problem’.” Dahyun insisted as she picked up her almost empty mug again. “I– I don't think that it is a problem.”

“You're being weird.” Chaeyoung muttered then tapped the older girl's thigh, “If it's bothering you, then it is a problem.”

“It's not bothering me. I am feeling great.” Dahyun spoke aggressively sipped on her mug, emptying it in one go which made her cough loudly. She shouldn't have done that.

Tzuyu creased her forehead then chuckled at the girl, “You're such a bad liar. Just tell us.”

Dahyun just took a deep breath then put down her mug on the coffee table as she sat up properly to face her best friends. The only reason why she was having a doubt in telling them earlier was because she thought it was not that relevant to voice out at the moment, and not because she didn't trust them.

“Sana...” she mumbled, “Sana unnie told me she– she's still in love with me.”

Chaeyoung's eyes went a hundred times bigger while Tzuyu's face just remained blank and neutral. Dahyun couldn't tell if she was upset, or just surprised.
