Enemies. Most people think about a TV show were enemies, where two or more people who fought each other and didn't agree on anything, or where one person is a good person and one is a bad person. These are the extreme examples of enemies. In my life, enemy can be described by two words, Kim Jisoo, my neighbour, my opposite, my enemy. We have always hated each other, of course so have our father's, who started it all.
They meet in their last year of University and became best friends. This friendship however only lasted two years. It all went downhill when they were both up for a job in YG, the top law firm in the country. Seunghyun, Jisoo's father started sabotaging my father's chance in getting the job. Rumours were spread and in the end, Seunghyun got the job. My father, being the type to not let things get him down, applied for several other jobs, yet due to the rumours that were spread, it took two years for him to finally land a job in SM, a law firm that was up and coming at the time. Now, twenty years later, it is the second best law firm in the country.
It was a year after that that the street we lived on was passed for housing and both the Kim's and my parents bought them, of course, it wasn't until it was too late that they realised that they had bought houses right beside each other. Both being the stubborn men that they are, neither wanted to be the one that moved, giving satisfaction to the other, resulting in an everlasting competition that still is there today.
It was a year after both couples had moved in that Seunghyun and his wife, Sandara, became pregnant with Soojoo and a year later came Jisoo. The two golden sisters as everyone in school refers to them.
Our family, however, came out slightly differently. I am the oldest, with two sisters and a brother. A year after I was born, Mino and Irene were born, followed by Yerim a year later.
My father, being the man he is, merely tries to avoid Seunghyun, not wanting to have to bring up old issues, yet anytime they have to talk, there are snide comments made on both sides.
"Jennie!" Rosé, my best friend shouts, as she makes her way over to my car.
"See you later." Mino says to me starting to walk towards the school doors with Irene and Yerim.
"Hey." I tell Rosé, as I grab my bag from the back seat.
As I close the door and start heading towards the school, with Rosé by my side, I feel a set of eyes on me. I turn my head to see Jisoo, glaring at me from where she sat on the hood of her car. Lisa, her best friend was sitting there with her, along with a few other guys, that I couldn't see their faces. I turn my head away, and pretend that I never saw her.
Everyone in school knew that we didn't get along, even if they didn't know why. When a shouting match break out between us, or when we start glaring at each other as they walk by, people just stand and watch, enjoying the show.
"I don't care how rude and arrogant she is, you have to admit she is hot." Rosé says, nudging me with her elbow. I knew she was hot, everyone knew that. Her dark brown eyes, long brown hair and well built body never failed to draw the eyes of everyone in school. While I knew she looked like she could belong on a TV ad, I also knew the personality behind the looks.
"You're drooling." I smile at her and watch as she raises her hand to her face, before rolling her eyes, when her hand comes away dry.
At lunch, Rosé and I were making our way over to our usual table when I saw Jisoo again. Lisa, her and her buddies were laughing at something. They were hard to miss, they always sat at the same table, in the centre of the room, allowing them to get the attention of everyone around them, just the way they liked it.
As I take my seat, beside Doyeon, and opposite Chahee, another two of my close friends, I feel a tap on my shoulder, making me turn to see Irene.
"Hey, do you have any money? I forgot my lunch." She tells me, looking at me with her puppy dog eyes.
