"...I like it when you look at me."

Jimin POV

My heart skipped a beat at his words and I found myself timidly meeting his gaze. I had expected to see Jungkook smirk or for him to laugh, but he did neither.

"W-why?" At my question, Jungkook blinked his eyes a few times. It was strange, because it looked as if he just realized he had responded out loud. It made me even more curious to figure out what he was saying. He stood there for a moment longer before he just shrugged.

"I guess you'll never know~" he quipped as he mimicked my words from this morning back to me. I cracked a small smile, shaking my head as I held up the shorts again.

"Whatever...just get in them already you brat," I muttered. Jungkook chuckled as he placed his hands on my shoulders for support and slowly started to lift his foot. It took a while, but eventually he was able to get both of his legs through the shorts. I waited for him to release his hold on me before I stood up again, sliding the shorts up his body until they were on him properly.

Time skip (6 hours)

I covered my mouth to stifle my yawn as I continued rummaging through my stack of papers. I had been working for the past two hours after helping Jungkook into the guest room and giving him the next dose of pain killers. When I hadn't been able to fall asleep, I decided to work on the case some more. Even though the captain had given me a couple of days off, I didn't want to fall behind especially now that I was so close to cracking the case.

I was busy skimming through some documents when I heard a soft knock on my door. I sighed as I quickly hit the save button on my laptop, sliding it across the bed as I stood up and made my way over to the door. When I opened it, I was greeted with a small smile from my doe-eyed informant. I felt my cheeks flush slightly as I took in his disheveled state, his hair messy and sticking up in different directions.

"J-Jungkook...what are you still doing up?" I questioned nervously as I folded my arms and leaned against the door frame.

"I usually don't go to bed until 2 or 3 in the morning anyways," he explained with a shrug.

"Oh, well did you need something?"

"N-no, not really. I um...saw your light was still on."

"Yeah, I'm just working on the case," I answered, indicating to the make-shift work station on my bed with a slight head nod.

"I don't think that's what your captain had in mind when he told you to take two days off," he chuckled.

"Yeah, I know. It's just this case is driving me crazy. I've narrowed down my potential leak list to three people, but that's as far as I've gotten."

"Still, that's pretty good," Jungkook insisted as he lightly nudged my arm. I snickered at his attempt to cheer me up but I appreciated the sentiment. There was a brief pause before Jungkook cleared his throat. "Well, I'll leave you alone now."

"Oh, okay," I muttered, my voice doing a terrible job of hiding my disappointment.

"Goodnight," Jungkook replied softly, turning away after a brief lingering look. I bit my lip as I watched him slowly walk back down the hall. I glanced over my shoulder at the mess on my bed first and then returned my focus to my informant.

"...Hey!" I called out and Jungkook immediately faced me with a questioning look. "...um, do you want to have a drink? I know that usually helps me fall asleep," I offered sheepishly as I brushed my hair back.

"What about your case?" the younger male asked.

"It can wait until in the morning. I've hit a road block anyways," I stated as I waved my hand dismissively. "So, what do you say?"
