Thursday July 9th, XXXX

Jimin POV

I woke up groggily the next morning, rubbing my eyes as I adjusted to the rays shining through my window. The sun was already high in the sky so I knew that it was way later than I normally wake up. A quick glance at my phone told me that it was 9:56am and I panicked for a second before I remembered that I didn't have to go into work today. I ruffled my hair as I yawned, thankful that I had gotten a decent night's sleep for once.

"Eh, I can take a break from my workout today," I mumbled to myself as I sat up and stretched with a sigh.

My feet dragged me over to the door when I finished making the bed, but I stopped as memories from last night flashed through my brain. I gulped slowly as I remembered how he had kissed me out of the blue. Not only was I confused by his actions, but I was admittedly a little nervous to face him again after that.

We had both been drinking so it is entirely possible that none of it meant anything to him. Even though I couldn't deny that I enjoyed it, I figured it would be best to just pretend like it never happened. If he really was just drunk then maybe he'll have forgotten about it by now anyways. Perhaps then we could just go back to the way things were and not risk our professional relationship. My heart sank slightly at the thought, but I shook my head as I walked out the door.

Time skip (30 minutes)

After I showered and dressed for the day, I decided to fix breakfast for the both of us. I had just finished plating the food when I heard footsteps coming down the hall. My head spun around right as my informant strolled into the living room, rubbing his tired eyes as he yawned softly.

"Well look who's finally up," I quipped as I turned back around to put the dishes in the sink.

"I smelled food..." he mumbled, his voice still raspy from just waking up.

"Who said you get any?" I teased as I grabbed both plates and joined him at the dining table.

"I know you can be cruel. But, you're not that cruel," Jungkook retorted as he rolled his eyes playfully.

"Hmm, touché," I chuckled as I picked up my chopsticks to dig in. For breakfast, I made rice with black beans, fried eggs, leftover kimchi (that Jin hyung had cooked), and a bowl of mixed fruits.

"Looks good."

"It wasn't too hard...it's pretty simple to make," I replied with a shrug as I shoveled a bite of kimchi into my mouth.

"Can't you just accept a compliment?" my informant groaned as he started eating.

"Fine...thank you."

"See that wasn't so hard, now was it?"

"Whatever. Oh by the way, I got a lead this morning so I'll be out for a bit."

"You want me to come with you?"

"No, I figured you could um... just stay here and... rest your ribs so they can heal," I answered in between chews, covering my mouth with my palm. Jungkook jerked his head up at my response as he continued munching on his food slowly with wide eyes. "...W-what?"

"You trust me enough to stay here alone?" he questioned in a dramatic tone.

"Is there any reason why I shouldn't trust you?"

"N-no..."

"Then what are you going on about?!"

"I don't know."

"You're so annoying..." I grumbled right as my phone rang in my jeans pocket. "...hello? Oh hey Yoongi hyung. What's up?" I asked as I leaned back in my chair. My informant scrunched up his face at the mention of officer Min and I shook my head at his childish behavior. "Yeah I figured as much... mhm, so did I. Uh huh... okay, thanks! I'm about to head out now so you can tell my squad that I'll look into it when I get back. Yeah, okay...will do. Bye!"
