Violet swallowed thickly as she waited in the waiting room of Buckingham Palace, beside her sat her brother Indigo who insisted on staying by her side after she got a call from the Queen's assistant. Indigo took his sister's hand feeling it shake and sweat, he rubbed comforting circles at the back of her hand trying to calm her down but let's be honest he was more nervous than her, they were meeting the monarch of their country for god's sake.
"Miss Davies, please follow me," A petit yet stern woman said looking at Violet who gulped and stood letting go of Indigo's hand, he stood up ready to go with her but stopped when the petit woman glanced at him. Violet gave him a reassuring smile before she followed the woman in through some huge doors.
Violet didn't dare look anywhere other than the woman's back feeling her heart hammer against her chest. The woman moved to the side showing the back of the Queen who was writing something on some papers. Nicholas was stood beside her grandmother, he looked at her when she was close and gave her a nod.
The Queen stopped her scribbling and placed her pen to the side pausing for a second before standing up and turned around to face Violet who immediately gave an awkward curtsy making her monarch chuckle a little.
"Come, my child, and sit with us," The Queen said softly sitting down on a couch followed by Nicholas. Violet joined Nichols on the only couch empty in front of the Queen. She looked between the two like she was reading them and how they acted especially so close to each other, Violet seemed nervous from being her while Nicholas was calm and collected, they were like a puzzle so perfect for each other, she was scared of some situations and he would take care of the situation.
"I think you two know why I asked for you here" The Queen started breaking the silence. Violet tensed a little as the Queen bought up the problem they were encountering right now.
"You do not have to worry my child, I am not mad or angry, disappointed to find out this way but not angry," The Queen said noticing Violet started shaking. Nicholas cleared his throat earning his grandmother's attention and taking the lead of the conversation.
"It is not like that granny, it's a mere misunderstanding. There is nothing going on between myself and Miss Davies" He said calmly. His words were calculated and not disrespectful and formal.
"Is that so? What is going on then?" The Queen asked watching as Violet was about to place one leg over the other but stopped herself and only interlocked her ankles. Violet knew that putting a leg over the other was not allowed and it was against etiquette like her mother told her and she settled on the next best thing and that is locking her ankles together.
"James Walker and Samantha Wright, were bullying miss Davies and I intervened, she is my friend's sister after all and one of our people" Nicholas answered. Violet felt a little sad at the answer but she didn't know why? She can't have already developed a crush on the young prince, she won't allow herself.
"I see, well we can't tell that to the public so I suggest you actually give this a go," The Queen said. Violet paused from taking the teacup from the woman, maid, who offered her some, but she immediately took it and placed it on her lap as she stared wide-eyed at the Queen who only took a sip from her own cup innocently.
"What? Granny I and miss Davies do not know each other to date especially in public" Nicholas said placing his cup on the table in front of him not breaking eye contact with his grandmother.
"And this is why I'm giving you a chance to know each other and not forcing you into this relationship, Nic you're my grandson and I care for and I want you to be happy and this opportunity came on its own for you to get over miss Johnson," The Queen said calmly placing her cup down on the coffee table, Nicholas sighed knowing he can't change his granny's mind.
