Violet-Chapter-Thirty-Nine

"Are you ready?" Nicholas asked Violet, noticing her fidgeting with the sleeve of her dark green dress. She looked amazing with her hair in perfect waves with one side of it pulled back while the other rested elegantly behind her ear to show the diamond earring she had brought a couple of months back.

"I am, just nervous. This is not something I am used to" She shrugged. She looked up at him and blushed when she noticed that he was watching her. She let go of her sleeve and looked down at her black heels.

"Don't be, I'll be here with you the entire time" He assured. He reached over to grab her left hand and raised it to place a small kiss on her ring. She smiled feeling a sense of calm wash over her, calm before the storm. She can hear the reporters talking to each other behind the door deciding who stands where so they can get as many good photos as possible of the couple.

"I know, I'm used to them following me but I have never been a model really, standing there and smiling for them to take a picture, I usually ignore them and I have never given an interview before in my life" Violet answered. Nicholas used the hand holding hers to pull her into his chest, holding her there securely. He leaned his forehead down against hers, eyes never leaving her own.

"You will do amazing, my love, believe me" He whispered. Violet could sense the staff around them shuffling awkward at having to witness such a private moment.

"I love you" Was her response, she did not know what to say back, she has never really been witty and when he was close by all her words were lost to her.

"I love you too" Nicholas placed a quick kiss on her forehead before pulling away. Stephan Thompson, Nicholas' private secretary stepped over to the couple looking all serious and with a clipboard in hand, Violet noticed the pen he was holding was the same one she had gifted him four years ago, she was surprised he still had it.

"They're waiting for you, your highness" Stephan was all professional at the moment. Violet knew that there was time for friendship and there was work time, considering she was friends with her own secretary back in Davies & Co. which she has resigned for almost a week ago but no one knew, even Georgina, they all thought she was on vacation for the past week.

"We're ready" Nicholas nodded. He let go of Violet's hand so she can hold onto his arm instead. She took a deep breath and nodded at Stephan when he turned to her. She plastered on her sweetest smile, not too small to show her nerves but not too big to look like some villain who planned all of this. A natural sweet smile with little teeth.

Two guard opened the doors and almost immediately Violet was blinded by what felt like hundreds of flashes but was less than ten. Nicholas himself chose the reporters that were to take their photos and the total was seven with an interviewer from BBC who they will sit down with soon after. Nicholas guided Violet into the drawing room with his own sweet smile on his lips.

Once inside they took their place in front of an ancient fireplace. Buckingham palace was as cold as ever during the winter even with the heating on and Violet had to fight a shiver. She had a hard time not curling her fingers around the material of Nicholas' suit jacket and to keep it in place so they can see and take photos of her ring.

"Over here"

"Your highness"

"Miss Davies look here"

She hated how they were demanding their attention in all the directions They looked from the right to the left so all cameras can have a straight photo of them. Violet could not wait for all of this to be over so she can cuddle into Nicholas in his bed as they watched some movie with ice cream and popcorn, and for Nicholas to call her a psychopath for eating ice cream in winter. After around five or more minutes of taking photos and receiving congratulations from the paps they were all ushered out so the BBC crew can set up for the interview. The couple were going to be interviewed by a close friend of Nicholas, Benjamin Moore, still he was a reporter no matter how close him and Nicholas were, she had to be careful, even Nicholas warned her along with the queen and her new appointed protocol teacher, Holly Turner.
