Alaina looked at Stefan waiting for him to say something. "First when I came back, it was for Elena." Stefan confessed. "But when I met you that first day of school, I knew it was you. I had to know you."

"Okay." Alaina said. "This is Katherine, but how..."

"I did some digging." He tells him making her nod. "Katherine was a Pierce and Elena is a Gilbert..."

"Meaning Elena was adopted." Alaina said as she looked at him. "Oh my god.

"That's not all." He said. "I saved Elena that night her parents died."

Alaina looked at him and had to know. "Than why did you actually choose me if Katherine was your first love?"

"Alaina, like I said before, I did come back for Elena, but meeting you changed it all. I saw this compassionate sweet girl that I saw myself falling for. I knew that I wasn't going to repeat history. Not as long as I took the chance with you." Stefan tells her. "I love you, Alaina Richardson. That's why I chose you and not Elena."

The blonde smiled as she kissed him. "I'm going to call Elena and get her to come back here so you or I can explain. Than I will have a talk to mom about this, than search for Bonnie to get her help."

"I'll look for Bonnie. You deal with calling and talking to Jenna." He tells her. "Plus, we can talk to Elena together."

"Okay." She said smiling.

She called Elena just to get Damon. "Damon, please let me speak to Elena." She said, but was refused. "Damon, don't....."

Stefan saw her scoff as she hung up. "Can't find her?"

"No." She said. "Damon said Elena refuses to speak so I'm guessing she's still upset over the Katherine thing."

"At least she will know why I chose you." Stefan tells her.

"I think she knows." Alaina said. "Well, looks like I need to go and talk to aunt Jenna while you get Bonnie to try and help.

Stefan kissed her before the two left to get either help or information. Alaina hopes she could get some answers.

"Mom?" She called out. "I need to ask you a question."

"In here."

Alaina walked into the kitchen and sat down. "I'm going to be straight forward with this, but is Elena adopted?" She asked. "I've started noticing that she rarely looked like aunt Miranda."

"They were going to tell her." Jenna tells her. "The never got the chance to. I was swore to secrecy."

"Oh."

"How did you actually find out?" Jenna asked her.

"Mom, I'm sure a daughter should show she resembles their parents in someway. I know this is going to hurt Elena once she finds out." Alaina said.

"She has you, now go get cleaned up."

The blonde smiled as she ran up to her room. "First she has to go back to Stefan's to explain.

The next day, Elena and Damon arrived back. Alaina hugged Elena as she hugged back. "You have know idea how worried I was about you."

"I know."

"Elena, Stefan wants to explain why you look like Katherine."

Elena nodded as they walked in. Stefan started to tell Elena the same story he told Alaina. Elena realized why he didn't go for her now and was actually glad to be his friend, but she can still have a crush. "So why do I look like her."

"Elena, you were adopted." Alaina said. "I helped Stefan with some digging to find your birth certificate. It says Miranda and Grayson Gilbert on it."

"Your a Gilbert and she was a Pierce." Stefan said as he placed his hands on Alaina's shoulders.

"You were adopted." Alaina said. "I'm so sorry. I just found out and...."

"Alaina!" Elena said. "It's not your fault. I'm glad I don't resemble Katherine." She said looking at Stefan. "I'm happy that he has you and you have him, but for right now. I like to go home."

"Come on." Alaina said as she kissed Stefan. "I'll talk to you later."

"Okay."

When they got back. Elena was upset with Jenna resulting in Elena to go straight to her room. "Give her time and she will forgive you." Alaina said. "For now, we can start digging and try to find her actual parents."
