Chloe quickly took Lee's hand and squeezed it gently, trying to provide him with some reassurance. She couldn't help but glance up at him and smile as the two of them walked into the house. Her heart swelled with pride when she realised how important it was to Lee that her family approve of him. Chloe's stomach churned as the two of them walked into the living room. They hovered nervously as Gwen watched Lee closely, her eyes narrowing, almost like she was trying to assess him.
"Auntie, this is Lee." Chloe said quietly, trying to break the uncomfortable silence.
"I'm Gwen, nice to meet you." Gwen said, holding her hand out for Lee to shake. Lee reluctantly let go of Chloe's hand and quickly shook hands with Gwen, trying to ignore the nervous butterflies that were swirling in his stomach.
"I had no idea you were planning to get back together with him." Gwen said shortly, turning to face Chloe.
"I didn't plan too." Chloe said nervously, glancing at Lee who gave her a small reassuring smile.
"I did think it was a little strange, since you have a new boyfriend." Gwen said shortly.
"He was a rebound though." Chloe pointed out, sighing deeply to herself as she sat on the sofa and Lee sat beside her.
"I really wish you wouldn't go out dressed like that Chloe." Gwen sighed, when she finally noticed the outfit that Chloe was wearing.
"Auntie, I'm twenty five, and it's not a revealing outfit anyway." Chloe sighed, rolling her eyes impatiently.
"I know, but it doesn't leave much to the imagination does it." Gwen pointed out. Chloe sighed deeply to herself, trying to ignore the frustration that she was feeling. Despite the fact that she knew her aunt was very religious and strict in the way that she brought up Amy and Kyle, she'd been hoping that the same rules wouldn't apply to her.
"I think she looks stunning whatever she wears." Lee said, trying to find a way to encourage Gwen to warm to him.
Gwen raised her eyebrow at him and watched him closely. Even though she'd heard a lot about Lee from Chloe, she wasn't entierly sure what she thought of him. It was clear that he was very handsome and talented and Gwen couldn't help but feel uneasy that he might be taking advantage of Chloe's sweet and vulnerable nature.
"So what do you do for a living?" Lee asked Gwen awkwardly.
"I'm a carer for the elderly." she replied quietly, her eyes fixed on him intensly, almost like she was examining a specimen under a microscope.
"Wow, that must be very rewarding." Lee smiled. Gwen nodded silently.
"I'd better go and sort out dinner." Gwen said, quickly standing up.
"I can make something if you want, I'm quite a good cook." Lee offered hopefully.
"It's already in the oven, I just have to serve it." Gwen snapped, as she quickly walked away.
"Well that was frosty." Chloe said quietly as soon as Gwen left the room. She glanced at Lee, her heart sinking when she noticed him sigh sadly.
"Don't worry about it." she said, quickly turning to face him.
"She really doesn't like me does she." he muttered, his heart sinking in dissapointment.
"She's just really old fashioned and strict, and she doesn't like men since her and my uncle split up." she explained. Lee nodded slowly, glancing down at Chloe as she snuggled against him, carefully resting her head on his shoulder.
"Don't stress, it doesn't matter what she thinks of you anyway." she told him. Lee sighed as she placed a soft kiss on his neck.
"It kinda does Chlo." he muttered. Chloe sighed sadly when she suddenly realised how dissapointed he was by her Aunt's reaction to him.
