I awoke with the sound of crashing waves echoing in my ears. I blinked my eyes open to see George sleeping peacefully in my arms. I smiled at how perfectly we fit together, just another reason to add to the argument of soulmates. The sun was high above the Horizon, and the cold air nipped at my back. I paid it little mind, I didn't care if the world was ending, because George needed sleep.
He was exhausted, I knew. Sensory overload, between the lows and the highs of the past 24 hours - I knew he needed to crash for a bit. I zoned out for a while, until I felt him start to shift.
"Good morning George." He groaned.
"I don't want to move and I know you're about to tell me to bloody move."
"I'm cold." I whined. He huffed.
"Fine," he grumbled. "But only because you." I laughed and stood up, offering a hand. He took it, and didn't let go when we started walking. Not that I was complaining.
"God, my head hurts like a bitch." I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.
"Hah. Guess you didn't have anyone to make you drink water last night." George said smugly. I shook my head.
"Nope, I was too busy dropping glasses and watching you kiss Maia." I retorted. Realization crossed his face and he covered his mouth.
"Oh my God. Maia. Shit! No no no- she's gonna be so mad and I-" He rambled anxiously and I cut him off, squeezing his hand.
"Hey. It's gonna be ok, I promise." He frowned and stared at the ground.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled, his lip quivering. I lifted his chin and met his gaze.
"Trust me when I tell you it's going to be ok, George. I don't blame you for what you did and neither does Maia. She told me herself, ok?" He nodded, and I grinned. "However, Sapnap may try to kill you." He rolled his eyes.
"Pfft, that's nothing new-"
"GEORGE YOU SON OF A BITCH WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN?" I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Speak of the devil."
"YALL BETTER TELL ME WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON OR IM GONNA YEE SOMEONES HAW RIGHT HERE AND NOW."
"Sapnap, breathe."
"Dream don't tell me to fucking breathe I saw you guys from the window." George's face flamed and Sapnap smirked in triumph. "Mm-hmm. I even got pictures." He crossed his arms pridefully.
"I swear to God Sapnap, if you show those to anyone-" George threatened.
"Don't worry Georgie, I'll keep your secret safe."
"What do you mean secret?"
"Oh what the fact that you actually showed physical affection to someone? Wouldn't want that spreading around."
"Oh sorry for not wanting to platonically kiss my best friends." George snapped back.
"Well actually given last night-"
"That is not fair! I'm done with this conversation." George huffed and walked up the stairs to his room. I watched him go, and then turned to look at Sapnap.
"Did you have to get him worked up?" I asked.
"Yep." He smiled and walked away. I shook my head.
George had to record a video, so I got bored. I could hear him yelping at whatever challenge he was doing and flopped onto the couch in the lounge. I played with the remote for the lights for a bit. I finally stood up and walked towards the studio room George was in.
I opened the door and slipped in quietly. I stood for a moment, watching what he was doing. His movements were precise as he navigated the minecraft world. I snuck up closer until I was right next to him.
"George~" I murmured. He tensed and I rested my chin on his shoulder. "How's my favorite person?" I asked quietly. He turned red and hid his face in his hands. I twisted his chair around and looked at him. He looked up from his hands and bit his lip.
"Can I kiss you?" I asked seriously, reading his expression. He nodded.
Worlds collided again, and for a moment I felt breathless.
That will never get old.
Then the door flew open, and Tommy and Wilbur appeared.
"We'd like to invite you to dinner with us in the dining room." Wilbur said calmly, his tone making clear that he chose to disregard how close the two were. I silently thanked him, relieved. Tommy, however, had no such boundaries.
"DID YOU TWO JUST FUCKING K-" Wilbur dragged Tommy out before he could finish his sentence and I looked at George. We both started laughing, and he stood up.
"I guess we should go to the dining room then." He grinned, and we made our way to that end of the hall. We entered the dining room. Phil, Techno, Tubbo, Tommy, Wilbur, Niki, and Sapnap were all gathered around the table. I sat next to Sapnap, and George sat to my left between me and Niki. Kay set out the dishes and we passed them around and made light conversation.
I looked at George's plate, which was empty. I spaced for a minute, trying to figure out how to help him eat.
"So, Dream, George, how's...everything?" Wilbur asked curiously.
"Great." I replied, smiling. George shifted in his seat. I tipped my head and looked at him. He met my gaze and frowned. I nodded. "How's the lore going?" I changed the subject. The others got into a heated conversation about something Quackity did. I glanced back at George. He was staring at his hands and I narrowed my eyes, confused. We finished dinner and George and I ended up on the couch in my room.
"What was up at dinner?" I asked gently. He shifted closer to me and I ran my hands through his hair.
"I don't know... I like privacy, I guess. I don't like talking about my feelings." He said softly.
"That's fair." I mused, my eyes wandering to the flag on my wall. We stayed there for a few moments in silence.
"George?" I said quietly.
"Yes Dream?" He replied sleepily.
"Promise me this is forever."
"I promise."
