Yep, that was definitely a bisexual flag.
On Dream's wall.
Oh shit.
I woke up to the bed cold. Again. Dream always left when he woke up. I sighed, grabbing my phone and looking at the date.
How was it already September 20th?
I sat up, running my hands through my hair. I looked down, realizing I was still in his sweatshirt. I laid back down, not feeling ready to get up. Then I thought of Dream. And his freckles. And his eyes. And then suddenly I wanted to get up and spend every moment with him.
I slid on my sneakers and opened my door. Faint music echoed from somewhere down the hallway. I smelled coffee, and I followed the scent down the hall. Dream was sitting at the piano, two steaming cups of coffee on the table beside him.
He was wearing a maroon sweater and black jeans. I vaguely recognized one of Maia's songs. He hadn't seen me yet, but I enjoyed watching him play. His eyes were closed and his face expressed vulnerability. Then, he began to sing and I almost gasped.
"I'm getting tired always going to my head
Everything I don't say is everything that I regret
Why's growing older filled with all these growing pains?" Then he turned to see me. He patted the spot on the bench beside him, handing me a cup of coffee with one hand and still playing with the other.
"You know this song?" He asked. I nodded.
"I helped Maia write it." He began to sing, and I joined in quietly at first, growing louder as I started getting into it.
"Woohoo, woohoo, I only wanna be with you woohoo
It doesn't matter what you say or what you do
My number one, I'll be yours too"
The song finished out and I smiled.
"I didn't know you played piano." I said curiously. He shrugged.
"Yeah, I do on occasion. I can't sight read though, I have to hear a song to play it."
"That's still pretty cool." I replied.
We spent the rest of the day streaming and editing together. We had a studio room, so most of the day we just sat across from each other coding plugins. By the time the clock struck 10, I was really tired. I yawned, looking at Dream. He was on his third coffee from just this afternoon. He looked up at me, pushing his hair out of his face.
"Time for a break?" He asked. I nodded. We headed to the lounge room, flopping down on the couch. He grabbed the tv remote, flipping through Netflix. He stopped at Before I Fall. I'd never heard of it before, but he clicked on the description, interested.
"Hmm. I've read the book, but I never got around to watching the movie." I shrugged.
"Let's watch it." He started it, but left it paused. "I'll go see if Kay can hook us up with some snacks." I said, exiting the room. I made my way to the kitchen, where a woman with long red hair was cutting carrots. She looked up as I entered.
"Hello George. Need something?"
"Dream and I are watching a movie. Can you get us some snacks maybe?" I asked kindly. Kay was our cook, the only sane person in the house. She nodded. I looked at my phone, scrolling through my photos.
I finally decided on a pic of Sapnap, Dream and I for my lock screen, and a pic of Dream and I after the rain for my home screen. I heard footsteps and I turned to see Harvey. He waved at me.
"Hello Harvey. Back again?" She grinned.
"Well of course, Kay. I have absolutely no work to get done." She shook her head, shooing him away.
"Go finish your UHC quota and then we can talk." She said firmly, hand on her hip. He raised his hands.
"Alright alright," turned around and pointed at her. "But mark my words, I'll be back before the night's over." She sighed, shaking her head. I raised my eyebrows at what seemed to be a budding romance.
"I can see you making connections in your head over there." She said as she popped popcorn. I laughed. "I'm really thankful Harvey recommended me for this, we've been friends for a long time."
"Friends?" I asked.
"Oh shush. Take your popcorn and snacks and scoot. I have stuff to cook." She thrust the snacks into my arms to avoid further conversation. I walked down the hallway, ducking into the lounge. Dream was spread out on the couch.
"Scooch, sir skyscraper." I shoved his feet aside, plopping down on the couch. He sat up, grabbing the remote and unpausing the movie. I tried to focus on the movie, but it was kind of painful.
Sam shouldn't have gotten so many chance to live her day. Why didn't I get those chances? Why did my dad die 17 years ago? Why couldn't he have woken up one more time just to say I love you back? I was so caught up in my thoughts I didn't even realize I was gravitating towards Dream.
I was so tired. Tired of life.
Fuck it, I'm making the most of this. Right now.
I laid my head on his thigh, my eyes closing. He ran his hands through my hair. I relaxed, perfectly content to stay in that moment. But of course, moments never last and the movie ended.
"George. You need sleep." Dream murmured. I groaned.
"I don't want to move." I grumbled.
"C'mon, let's go." He stood up, and I laid their for a moment staring up at him. I stood up, shaking off my sleepiness for the moment. I followed him to my room, slipping under the covers and not bothering to change into my night clothes. He slid in beside me, and I sighed, content.
If only these moments could last forever.
And at that, I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
