After catching a few teachers, a drunk guy, and a few local students, I was full and tired. Not to mention the sun was beginning to lighten the sky into an assortment of pinks, oranges, purples, and reds.

Searching for a safe place to sleep, now that was going to challenging.

I searched around for a mine or cave that I may be able to sleep in. Vampire's don't need coffins to sleep in but some vampires find it easier inside of one.

Without the confort of my room, I searched around for a barn or stable to sleep in while positioning my pieces.

The sun, begining to peak over the Appalachian mountains, was warning me to flee into the shadows. In a field open for about fifty acers in every direction, the only shadows were that of a small wooden barn.

I ran to the barn as fast as I could with my vampiric speed. I pushed open the doors and rushed in as the sun screamed its last warning. I shoeved the doors closed and gasped at how my hand was burning in pain from the sun's rays.

Slowly begining to heal I turned and assessed the inside of my shelter. All around me was grain and mountains of hay. Very few rays were shining through, but if I have learned anything while sleeping during the day with humans, it is that the sun's rays move as it rises and sets.

So I dug my way under most of the hay to a dark place where I knew the sun wouldn't reach. I put my bags near the entrance to the hay stack and curled up.

Yawning and making the hay comfortable, I settled into the very uncomfortable grain.

I closed my eyes and let my mind wander to my pawns. Mentaly finding them, I began moving them around on the board.

I tuned into my Rook just in time to hear a familiar laugh echo into Logan's ears. In my real body, I shivered.

"Could you believe what Adam said? 'Beware the Holiday of Horror.' Seriously, what was up with that?" Jame's green eyes glistened off of the classroom's lights and his brown-black hair hung in his face.

He wore a black t-shirt and camo pants that were a little baggy on him.

I looked back into Logan's memories and saw that he had woken up about an housr before dawn and ran hom to grab his books before school started. So he was still in his pathetic atire from last night. At least he had the mind to clean up the blood, though he thought that he had scraped it on something after a drink last night. Good thing vampire bites heal quickly.

I mentaly thanked Adam and controled Logan's next words.

"I don't know dude but I would keep a close eye on him. Oh and James, I heard from some people that 'she' is back in town." James' lips thinned and his eyes narrowed.

"She.." He looked confused and disturbed and the animal inside of me was purring at his confusion and fear over me.

In the class room, the teacher was missing and there were very few students; Cole among them. The room was plain white and looked like a prison. I left just before construction on something like this began.

I let Logan speak what he was going to say.

"But like, you know that she moved away so she should be out of town without problems." James looked sideways at him.

"First Adam's strange attitude. Then 'she' is in town. Logan, I feel like something is coming." I had to force my body to stay still under the grain. I made Logan laugh and pat James' shoulder in a comforting way.

"I bet it's just a coincidence." James shook his hand off. His eyes were looking far away, most likely to the memory of me.

When the bell rang and the teacher walked in, everyone bustled around to their seats. The teacher wasn't one I had attacked but none the less, he looked familiar.

I vaguely rember his name. Mr. Howard. A short, pudgy man he was too. He had equally changed like the school.

"Take your seats," his boice boomed. Even in Logan's disgusting mind, I could feel the room quiver at his voice. Logan sat behind James so I had the oppertunity to watch him, but when Logan glanced at the board and groaned, I registered the words 'Pop Quiz' being written in chalk.

To play a good joke on Logan, I supressed all of the memories of his studying and exited his mind. Now I know the outcome of his test without even tuning in.
