"My father once told me that part of being human is our soft sides for others. For mortals, it is true that by nature, you band together when someone is in need of help. On the other hand, for us immortals, if someone is in trouble, we let nature take care of it. And since our soft sides of forgiveness is gone, things such as revenge are merely seconds ticking away on a clock and a reason to keep living." My voice became hoarse at the end and I knew why.
Master's blood tided me over for a long time but the use of vampiric powers drains any reserves within ones self.
Knowing that my friend would be a little freaked out but fine, I reached into one of my bags and pulled out a blood bag. I looked at my friend who's face went as white as his hair.
"You don't mind do you?" I asked him. He put his hands up and shook his head. I moved my bags to the side and stood, heading for the kitchen.
"Do you have any coffee mugs? I could go without but I'd prefer civilized." He nodded and rushed to the kitchen where he opened a cupboard and pulled out a black mug. When he handed it to me, I went to the table and sat, sharpening my pointer nail for a moment to cut the bag open.
"Thank you. For everything. You deal with my return, help me with my revenge, and even allow me to stay in your house. I know that the benefits for you is that your house is safer and that you will receive a gift from helping me but at the same time, you are also in danger if anyone knew that you know of my existence." He sat across from me, color slowly making his cheeks pink.
"You are the one friend who helped me other than Jasper who understood me yet didn't quite help. Janine, you have helped me so much, I figure that it is my turn to help you. After all, even if you are a different being now, you are still Janine." I showed a genuine smile as I finished emptying the bag and put the mug to my lips, slowly drinking in the thick liquid.
"You have school tomorrow, do you not?" I asked.
"Yeah, tomorrow is only Thursday but it is at least close enough to the weekend that I can be happy." I sighed and felt the urge to pat myself on the back. I knew that leaving school was a good idea. Now I remember why.
"Well, I need my best agent rested up and good to go. And perhaps while you sleep, you can come up with an idea of what you want so that I can begin to figure out what I should do to get it." I sipped from my mug again, already feeling stronger.
He crossed his arms and looked deep in thought for a moment before he looked and me and stood.
"I'm not going to be hasty about choosing my gift. I may change my mind by the end of this "mission". Today I may one a puppy, tomorrow, to be a girl; it is an always changing thing." He's a smart one I thought before I nodded and pointed towards the stairs.
"Get some sleep. The sun will not be up for another six hours. I advise that you get some rest while I find the attic." I sipped once more from the mug, taking in a larger amount than before. Once I set it down and licked my lips, I stood as well and with mug in hand, grabbed my bags and followed Adam up the stairs.
Now on the second floor, I felt a change from bright and warm to homey and useful. From a closed door, a soft snore could be heard. My friend went to a room with decor on the outside that is natural for someone like him, and before closing the door, pointed towards the string hanging from the ceiling.
"There are no windows so you should be okay. Nothing is up there but holiday decorations and old camping gear." He camps?
"Thanks again Adam. Sleep well. When you awaken, I will most likely be asleep so I will just watch from Logan or someone else to see how you do in school. After the other day's performance, I have no doubt that you will be good."
"No. I will not be good," he winked, "I will be fabulous!" And with that, he closed his door as a dramatic exit. Yup, definitely one of my funnier homosexual friends.
