"Forgive me sir but it says right here in the paper work that you requested to have your home remodeled today. It even has a time to be done by. See?" I kept back in my worker's uniform and kept my sunglasses on and hair up in the company hat to keep my identity a secret as I helped some of the humans I was blending in with move a couch from the large truck to the alpha's home.

To say James was frustrated would be an understatement as it had been my influence that had pushed the paperwork through and the main manager's lack of will to have everything just right. The wolf was none the wiser as the rest of his pack was pacing around, curious as to why humans had invaded their lands and are pressuring their alpha.

A few of them had glanced at me with suspicion but upon smelling the overwhelming scent of honeysuckle perfume I had bathed in today, they quickly put their noses else where as to keep the scent away.

"How much is this going to cost me if I go along with this?" The manager flipped a few pages and we set the couch down just before entering the house so we knew where to put it. I overheard him mention a nice four digit number that made me smirk and James gape in terror. Nine thousand dollars can do that to any man, human, vampire or werewolf.

"Pack all of these things up right now. I want none of this," he demanded and I rolled my eyes and picked up my voice a bit to sound different.

"Boss, this couch is so heavy, we are gonna take it inside and set it in the spare space and come back to get it later." The others agreed and without any word from the man in charge we entered the domain of the alpha. As we set down the large piece of furniture, I wiped my brow and crossed my legs.

"Don't tell the boss but I got to use the bathroom," I lied and they all grinned as they went to making sure there were no scratch marks on the floors or doors. James outside sounded furious and beyond the point of return as the suffering he was going through now was in his wallet.

I didn't bother with the first floor as I knew nothing interesting happens on the first floor of any building so I ventured upstairs, the look going from modern family to business casual. A door to my left led to the bathroom I had needed but knowing that my bladder was just fine, I allowed myself to dive further into the alpha's domain.

A glint of something in a doorway caught my eye and as my heart beat slowly and sped up a beat or so per minute, I entered a room that looked similar to an office. Book shelves and filing cabnets were placed perfectly where they would be needed and an office desk was placed just perfectly in the middle of the organized chaos as papers were strung about on its flat and polished surface. The chair was well worn as if someone had spent many hours adjusting themselves over and over just to fix themselves again.

That could not be comfortable.

As I approached the desk, the papers looked professional and like formal documents but upon closer inspection, I could see the words 'pack' and 'wolves' dotted throughout the sheets of paper.

If he was thinking about it then I would have to see it from his perspective. I shifted my stance around his desk so I was just behind his chair and noticed immediately a hand written letter that was addressed to James. From the looks of it, the handwriting was male and from the words, he did not sound happy.

Alpha James,

I've written this letter to inform you that I have heard many a disturbing rumors of vampires in your lands. Such creatures are enemies of our kind and do not live long on our lands. Thus is known throughout the world with our people. It disturbs me greatly to know that such vile monsters are roaming so close to my own boarders. The council of alphas have already agreed that if this matter is not taken care of within the time given that your pack will be put under a new rule as it is suspicious that the vampire in question is an old flame of yours. Let this be a warning from myself as I know that you have helped us in many a battle. Eradicate this beast and the council will look favorably upon you.

Your Brother Pack,

Alpha Cole

I swallowed down my anger at their hurtful words and grabbed the envelope that the letter was sitting on. The return address was printed at the top from a town a county away. Folding it and stuffing it into my shirt, I looked for anything else that would attract my attention. Nothing else gained my focus except for a lone picture frame sitting on the desk. As I glanced around the room, no other pictures were present save this one. It was of a friend in our group and him smiling as he held her in his arms.

"No..." I whispered and picked up the frame, focusing on her appearance, hoping beyond the shadow of a doubt that it wasn't her. But the more I blinked, the more her features became clearer.

"Kestrel?" I murmured and felt a twinge of pain hit my heart. She was the one who had taken him from me? Someone I had trusted so much?

I slipped the picture out of the frame and into my shirt with the letter and just as I was about to make a break for it, heard an angry alpha storming up the stairs.

The vampire instincts inside of me spurned me into action as I darted to the lone window that faced the forest and flung it open with as little noise as possible. With very little grace I jumped out head first and flipped and landed on my feet silently.

"Its official, I'm definitely going to try out for something intense when this is all over." I sped away from his house and back to the truck, making my appearance seem as if I had never left.

While the workers climbed into the truck. I slipped into the back of the truck and shut the door before anyone could say a word or notice that I had done so.
