"B-but I thought you moved?" James stammered. I shrugged and could feel a slight sweat drop on my face as I struggled to hold up the spell that was making me seem human.

"Oh, I did. But I just couldn't help but come back to admire just how much this town has gone down. Seems like it just has the slightest of heart beats but nothing more. How sad. And I thought that I kept it more lively." I backed away from them a few steps to see both of their forms that had started to migrate towards one another.

"Why are you up here? Why did you hide who you were?" I put up a covered finger and shook it at them, grinning evilly.

"All good things come to those who wait, don't you agree?" I could hear a low growl from around us and paused, looking around for the source.

"Why don't you just get out of here you waste of space?" Logan spat with a bit more venom that I had used on him to make him my puppet. I focused on his mind and made him whisper,

"Sorry." He covered his mouth, not expecting to say that. I needed to hurry, I was using a bit too much strength on the spell.

"Well, as much as I would love to stick around for the reunion,  believe I will take my leave for now. Enjoy your day boys," I quipped and turned around, ready to hurry across the line and drop the spell. My body began to scream at me that I needed to feed. I needed blood. Now.

"Wait," I heard James say before he set a strong hand on my shoulder. That was all it took before the spell dropped and I groaned out in surprise.

His hand released me before I heard now two low growls from behind me.

"You," I heard Logan growl out. Growl?

"Vampire," James spat and seemed to seep the power of another being. A strong being. He always liked being in charge. Maybe that was for a reason.

"Well, there is just no fun in this anymore." I threw my glasses to the side and let my eyes and fangs show. I turned towards them and noticed something that made me freeze in fear. They had black eyes and their forms seemed as if they were holding back strange forces that rippled under their skin.

Demons?

No, demons were craftier than this.

"Since you two obviously know what I am, then just what the hell are you?" I began to back away from them.

I didn't need an answer from them when their forms changed and the clothes they had on shred to pieces. Where the two very human looking boys had been now stood two snarling wolves almost as tall as myself.

Werewolves?! They were werewolves?!

In my mind, I heard my master's voice as he said, Run!

I didn't hesitate any longer and using my vampiric speed, ran as fast as my legs could carry me, snarls heard behind me as they ran with an almost matching speed.

I felt as if this may be my end. I was sure that soon my past will destroy my future like I planned. If master wanted a new submissive underling then I wouldn't be able to stop him.

As it was, this was my end.

"Janine! Are you out here?"

In the background, I heard my name being called out. I jumped up into a tall tree and remained still, listening to the voice as it called over and over for me. The wolves that had been in pursuit of me halted beneath the tree I was in and was listening as I was in the direction of the voice.

"Janine!" Wait, I knew that voice.

Adam!

I jumped from tree to tree, not caring for the branches that scratched my face or the leaves in my hair. James and Logan snarled behind me and followed, determined to take my life.

I reached out with my mind to the human who called for me and cursed my luck for today. This was not how it was supposed to happen. James was supposed to be human so that I could turn him. Now if I bite him and try to turn him, he will die.

Worry for your life first. Your human is with me. Master? I knew master would keep him safe from these mutts but I am not sure if Adam would be safe with someone that even I can not control. I yield to that man and have no way of disobeying that control.

As master had said, Adam's calling silenced almost immediately. Now the only issue that I have is the wolves that had begun to speed up and leaping into the air to try and catch me.

"You know boys, I am far superior to you so it is pointless to try and stop me. I can run if I am exposed. But packs settle down..." I stopped in a tall tree and crouched down to look at their shaking forms.

"If I expose you as werewolves, how many people would have to leave because of your screw up?" Their growling stopped and they looked at one another, deep in conversation. When Logan shook his head, James went behind a nearby thick oak. Grunts and groans echoed from the tree as if the bark was moaning with the flowing wind.

Moments later, James reappeared in a pair of shorts and another pair in his hand. He threw them to Logan who caught them in his jaws and disappeared where James had just been.

"Listen Janine, you are a threat to my pack and you need to leave. You have no place here now and you never did. You have roots in this pack but you will never be one of us as long as you live. You can't be one of us even if your family is descended from members of this pack. If you leave before sunset tomorrow, we will not have to tell your family that you perished in a horrible rogue accident. Leave now."

His words registered almost immediately. I was part wolf? Then why did I never turn into one? I hissed under my breath and put the thoughts about it aside.

"I will not leave. Not until I have finished my task." Logan appeared by his friends side looking as livid as James.

"And just what is this task vampire scum? Taking human lives?" I put a hand to my chest in exasperation at Logan's words.

"I have never killed a human you stupid mutt. Perhaps it is you dogs that have been the downfall of this town. How many humans have you had to kill to achieve your place in this town for so long. Hundreds? Thousands?" James growled lowly at me and looked ready to pounce.

"Just answer Janine, what are you here for?" I stood on the flimsy branch and jumped down, landing just before him so that even a twitch of skin would make us touch. With a grin, I answered.

"You. I am here for you." With that, I put my lips to his in a momentary kiss before vanishing from their sight as fast as my vampiric speed could take me.
