I jumped at the vampire, his body quickly stepping out of my attack and to my side where he punched me in the chest. I flew back a few feet back to the ground and whimpered as my ribs had not healed yet. Breathing was difficult as it felt like my lungs in this form were struggling to expand.

"Is that all that my daughter has to offer in the way of a fight? Maybe I should have trained you less in the bedroom and more in fighting." My whimpers of pain shifted to growls of anger. James didn't need to know that I was roughly brought into the world of adulthood. Some of the wolves around me watched on with curious eyes and perked ears.

The elder vampire was taking this too far, trying to humiliate me.

"Well come on then. Are you going to just lay there glaring at me?" I climbed to my paws and started circling him, waiting for the right moment to strike. I shouldn't have rushed in so easily considering just how old and experienced he is. After all I am still only young by all standards, human, wolf, and vampire alike.

The vampire didn't turn with me but kept the same smug grin on his face as if he were sure I wasn't  going to succeed in ending his life. This angered me even more and I tested his flank to see his reaction. He jumped just a bit to the side but otherwise didn't change.

The rat bastard was testing me too.

I needed him to stay still if I went to attack. But how?

An idea popped into my head and I sent the idea to James through the mate link. His response of agreement encouraged me to continue my circling.

"Members of this pack, for years now this vampire has taken our children, our family, our kin. Hundreds have disappeared only to show up dead or for him to make us kill them to end their suffering. He experimented on them. He twisted their minds. He changed them against their will for his little failed army. As a pack, let us all take part in the end of this threat to our past, present, and future." Spoken like a true leader. By the end all of the wolves around us had joined in my circling Tobias Valakut, their voices in my mind quietly chanting,

Kill him. Kill him.

Thump-Thump.

This chanting sounded similar to the beating of my heart, all of us one mind and body. By myself, defeating the elder vampire seemed nearly impossible. But as a pack the odds were shifted greatly in my favor.

He had many wolves, human and fur form alike, waiting for an opening to strike. His posture lowered and his grin disappeared as the focus was on more than fifty to seventy wolves.

I blended into the throng of fury and bided my time, enjoying his worry and concern. Seeing this expression on his face was worth the jab at my virginity. I used my nose to nudge a few wolves forward and without question they all darted at the male who dodged this way and that, his black hair swaying slightly with the wind as he moved.

None of the wolves landed a strike on him but his balance was thrown. I situated myself behind Tobias and allowed the flow to move around me like a stone in a river. Fangs were being bared but he still held his ground, the circle growing smaller and smaller. The feeling of dread must be flowing in him furiously by now and his panic was almost strong enough to smell.

A few more wolves attacked and were once again dodged, some even landing on the ground after a rough punch from the vampire. I motioned to two wolves beside me, one of them I noticed was Logan of all people and I lifted my paw to show for them to take his arms. They nodded and as a group, the three of us leapt and swiped at him, Logan coming in and actually managing to grab Tobias's arm in his jaws. The other wolf hadn't been so lucky but even one arm restrained was enough to get the jump on the male.
