17 - Claims and Accusations

"Are you feeling better today, (Y/N)?" Your mom asks you, feeling your forehead.

"Yeah, I can go to school today." You make your way to the kitchen to eat something before Elias picks you up. He insisted upon doing so, considering how you felt yesterday.

"Bye mom! Bye Luna!" You wave to your mom and your cat before exiting the building, seeing Elias already waiting for you in his car.

"Hi (Y/N)!" The boy opens the door for you and waves excitedly.

"Hey Elias," You step into his car and take your seat next to him, closing your eyes out of tiredness.

"You shouldn't have come to school if you didn't feel good." Elias scans your tired and worn down body.

"I feel fine, really. I'm just tired. Waking up early isn't really the most desirable thing."

"Oh. Well just stick close to me today, okay? I don't need you dying on me." He chuckles lightly.

You giggle at his remarks and proceed to look out the window, taking in the sights around you. Elias stares at you with adoration in his eyes. Pondering whether he should say anything to hear your voice or if he should let you relax in the calm silence. Although, you were sick yesterday making you talk to him for such a selfish reason would be despicable of him.

Once you made your way to your homeroom class Levi immediately began to hit you with hundreds of questions about your whereabouts yesterday.

"Where were you? I called you but you never answered me." He tries to cover up the fact that he was extremely worried about you.

"I was sick. I told Elias not to tell anyone else because I knew you all would skip school for me and I didn't want to be a burden." You look to your lap trying to guilt trip the boy instead of just telling him you didn't want to be bothered.

"Oh, well at least you feel better now." He looks away seemingly affected by your fake guilt trip.

You turn your attention to the door and make eye contact with Nova. You hadn't seen her since last Friday when you told her to confess to Anthony. Thinking about it now you realized he never mentioned it to you at all. Before you knew it the girl had grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the classroom, telling the teacher you were both going to the bathroom.

"What was that about?" You ask the usually chirpy girl in front of you.

"Look, I'm gonna sound crazy right now but I don't think we should hang out with the guys anymore."

"What? Why? Did something happen Friday?"

"Well yes but also no."

"What's that supposed to mean, Nova?"

"Well when you pushed me over to talk to Anthony I overheard him talking with Elias about some girl and how she deserved what Elias did and-"

"What was her name?" You cut her off, intrigued by her claims.

"Lily."

You stared at the girl with wide eyes. "Well I mean there's surely more than one Lily in the area right?" You gave her a nervous smile, not wanting to believe what she was insinuating. "They say the culprit was already caught though."

"I know, I don't want to believe it either but they both had such a weird look in their eyes and I'm sorry I left without saying anything I was terrified and I still don't have your number." The girl rambled on wringing her fingers in nervousness.

"I'm not saying I don't believe you but I don't want it to be true."

"Me either. Maybe we can just give them the benefit of the doubt..." Nova tried to convince herself that her current friend group was innocent.
