Waking up to the loud beeping of the alarm you slam your hand on the snooze button to make it shut up for once. Sighing you slink out of bed and open your curtains only to be greeted by a barely lit sky. Cursing the sun for not doing it's job faster you throw on your uniform and do your hair in a presentable way.

"You only have to look good on the first day and then you can just give up. It's not like anyone would bother trying to look at me anyway so there's no point." You say to yourself and head to the bathroom, your cat in tow meowing for breakfast. "I know Luna, you're hungry just let me brush my teeth." You pet her head and brush your teeth thinking about the train wreck this school year is about to be. No one is going to know you and no one will want to know you. Not in this town at least, bunch of rich snobs. Scoffing you put down your tooth brush and stomp downstairs to feed Luna.

"Today is going to be a mess Luna. Pray for me," you say as you put her food in her bowl. "I guess I should skate to school. Might as well get a head start on these fools hating me." You decide and go to grab your skateboard from the back of your closet.

Checking the time you decide to head out dreading the day ahead of you. Bidding your cat goodbye you grab your keys and lock the door behind you. Sighing once again you start skating down the street towards your school. Expertly dodging the people on the street and flipping off anyone who tries to say you were "too close" to them. Finally making it to school you get off of your skateboard and walk into the hell that is your high school. Noticing everyone looking at you you feel your confidence begin to break down as you rush through the crowd and to the guidance office to get your schedule and locker number.

"Hi sweetie are you new here?" The nice looking office lady asks you with a smile. You immediately assume she's the only genuine staff in this school unless she's mastered the fake smile so well you can't tell it is fake.

"Yes, my name is (Y/N) (L/N). I just transferred here over the summer." You respond wanting the interaction to be over already.

"Ah yes I see you right here. Here's your schedule and your locker number and combination." She leans closer to you and whispers, "and sweetie I know the people here can be trying so be sure to talk to me whenever you're having a difficult time okay?" She winks at you and you can tell the smile on her face is nothing less than genuine.

"Thank you." You smile at her feeling comfortable in her presence, not wanting to leave the office.

"You can eat lunch in here if you'd like my love."

"I probably will, thank you so much." You smile again and finally leave her office taking in the beautiful architecture around you. You were expecting the school to be fancy considering the neighborhood you were in, but it was certainly exceeding your expectations. The lockers were huge and could easily fit your skateboard along with all your other belongings that you didn't need for class.

After shoving all your stuff in your locker, you make your way to homeroom trying desperately to ignore all the people looking at you and whispering with their friends. 'They're all snobby brats anyway, why should I care what they think about me.' You think to yourself but you feel the insecurities bubbling down inside of you as you finally reach the door to your classroom. Taking a deep breath you open the door and see everyone's eyes on you. The late bell hadn't even rung, yet everyone had managed to shut up just in time for your entrance. Great.

"Why hello young lady. You're (Y/N) (L/N) yes?" the teacher asked with a tone so painfully cheerful you wanted to throw up.

You only nodded your head in response not wanting to say anything stupid. You walked into the room and next to the teacher's desk.

"Will you please introduce yourself to the class?"

You turned to the class, your hands shaking but hiding behind your back. "I'm (Y/N). Nice to meet you all." You managed to squeak out without sounding like a total moron.

The teacher motioned you to a seat in between two boys, one with pink hair and one with light blue hair. 'They kinda look like cotton candy' you thought and made your way to your seat with a red dusted face from your introduction. Trying to pretend you weren't completely embarrassed, you continued to keep your attention on the board where only the date was written.

"Hey I'm Nova, I'm new here too." The girl sitting in front of you turned around and said. You almost didn't catch what she said because you were so focused on not looking like a fool.

"Oh uh hi. I'm (Y/N) though you probably already know that." You laugh a little happy that there was someone who could understand your situation.

She laughs along with you before saying, "I know I'm just glad there's someone else new here. All the people here already seem to be in tight knit groups."

"I know it's super nerve racking seeing all these people in groups when you don't know anybody, so I'm glad I can talk to you now. What class do you have next?"

"I have Spanish, what about you?"

"Oh same. Thank god I'll know someone." The two of you laugh, happy to have found someone to talk to.

"I have Spanish too." Another voice cuts into your conversation.

You turn to look at the voice and find the guy with blue hair smiling at you. "Oh cool." You respond not wanting to sound nasty.

"I can show you around school if you want." He says still smiling like a madman.

"That'd be great, thank you so much, right (Y/N)?" Nova responds smiling at you with the same energy as the bluenette beside you.

"Uh yeah sure it would be nice," you respond not too excited to be surrounded by this level of energy all day.

The bell signifying the end of homeroom rings and you rise from your seat to follow the bluenette whom you now realize you never got the name of. Nova walks beside you bubbling with happiness and humming a quiet tune. You smile at the blonde girl happy that out of all the fools in this school you found at least one good one.

"Oh yeah I never introduced myself, I'm Ethan." He turns around to look at you and smiles that same smile of his.

After a couple seconds of silence from Nova you decide you should respond to the poor guy, "Well I'm glad you're willing to show us around Ethan."

"Anything for you." He responds and continues walking never allowing a response from you.

"That was kinda weird," Nova whispers to you with a weird look on her face.

"Yeah, maybe that's just how the kids here are?" You offer an explanation to his weird behavior and Nova only shrugs her shoulders continuing to follow the weird boy.

Making your way to your spanish class you catch a glimpse of that creep that catcalled you yesterday. Pausing for a moment you stare at him then shake your head and catch up with Nova, now scowling. She looks at you slightly concerned but doesn't say anything, not wanting to upset you more.

"We're here," Ethan says cheerfully but a little uneasy, noticing your now angry face.

You walk in the classroom past him and the teacher refusing to introduce yourself to this class and sitting in an empty seat next to a guy with blonde hair. Nova says hello to the teacher before running over to sit in the seat on the other side of you. You notice Ethan's face darken for a split second but you shrug it off not wanting to make any assumptions about people, especially nice people who have offered to show you around the school so you don't get lost like an idiot.

"My love why do you look so down?" You hear the boy next to you say, but you decide to ignore him not wanting to deal with any people this class. "You break my heart princess, how could you give me the cold shoulder?" He sighs dramatically as you ignore him again.

You sigh softly. This is going to be a long year.
