A week had passed since River and Cooper started dating, and Cooper almost broke it off more times than he could count. He was more ready to break up with River than he was ready to break up with Riley, which wasn't fair to either of them. It was quite literally an 'It's not you, it's me' type situation; River was great, he was amazing, but Cooper wasn't. He started having this fear that somehow every single person knew what was going on; of course, that wasn't the case, but he was working himself up so much that he'd had two asthma attacks, but those were easily passed off as worrying about his English presentation that he refused to talk about. They more than likely weren't going to see each other again until after New Years', and for now, Cooper was okay with that; he felt that if he were to see River, he'd get too afraid and break up with him.
Today he had a party to go to with his mom, and normally he'd hate it, but it beat spending hours alone with his dad, who was starting to suspect something was up. Right when he had walked into the bathroom, his phone went off, signaling a text he knew was from River, instantly making him forget about what he was about to do. He might have wanted to break up, but it didn't mean his stomach didn't do flips when River texted him. It really didn't matter what the text was to be about, whether it was a 'wyd' text like right now, or one of them talking about something random, River was the only one who Cooper liked to text throughout the day.
Something random they started doing was send mirror selfies every day. Cooper's tend to be better since he didn't have to wear a uniform, but there were a couple of days where River sent one shirtless making him horny at the early hours of 7 am. It usually ends up with Cooper running late due to fixing his problem, but luckily today, it was a simple text, and he was able to finish getting ready on time.
They continued texting as Cooper headed out with his mom and practically ignored her the whole way there.
"Who are you texting?" Both his parents noticed he was texting someone way more than usual and asked a couple of times, earning them nothing but a 'no one.'
"No one."
She tried to sneak a look, but he hid it from her, making her smile, "Ohh, is it, Riley? I thought you two broke up."
Finally putting his phone down, he looked at her, annoyed. "Who told you that?"
"Your dad, who found out from your friends."
Rolling his eyes, he went back to texting. "They don't know anything." He mumbled, finishing a text.
"Are you still not on speaking terms?" It seemed like his parents knew more about the situation than any of the boys did. The dads and moms talked to each other a lot and got together way more than the boys recently did. They were probably trying to find a way to get them back together, but none of them were budging.
"Not really. I kind of figured it would blow over, but it still hasn't. I'm just waiting for them to apologize." Cooper had made it very clear that he wasn't going to apologize; he didn't do anything, so there was nothing to apologize for.
"Maybe you should talk about it with them. Explain to them that they really hurt your feelings; you're not going to get anywhere with no communication."
"No, mom, we're not girls."
She knew he wasn't going to budge, so she dropped it. "Alright."
Changing the subject, he looked out the window and watched as they drove in the direction of the Concord district. Groaning, he mumbled, "Another Concord party?"
"Well of course, no one makes me work as hard as they do." She said sarcastically but with truth dripping also.
As they got closer to the destination, Cooper realized he knew exactly where they were going, and as they approached the familiar house, he instantly became nervous, and his hands started sweating.
