LONG CHAPTER! Lots of dialogue so bear with it. Also, River's back ladies and gentlemen :)
After yesterday's charity event, Cooper planned to sleep in as late as he could. He had spent the rest of the evening either talking to his mom or watching vines, and after the event was over, he quickly helped her clean up, which also drained him. Today he was planning on going skating with the guys but kept snoozing his alarm. Instead of getting up and heading over at 12 like they planned, he got up an hour late and rushed to get ready. It was close to 2 when he was finally done and sent a text saying he was on his way.
He grabbed his skateboard and said goodbye to his parents. "Bye! I'll be back later!"
"Wait, where are you going?" His mom yelled out to him. "Out!" He yelled, already out the door.
Running to the sidewalk, he dropped his board and started making his way to Max's. His house being a couple blocks away.
Arriving, he knocked on the brown front door, and Max's mom answered. "Hi, Cooper! How have you been?" she greeted him with a nice smile, she always adored him. "Hi, Mrs. Feldstein."
She opened the door more, letting him in. "The boys are in the basement already, so go ahead." He thanked her and made his way down to the basement.
"What up douches." He said, entering.
"Finally! We've been waiting for you." Mike complained. Cooper just shrugged, "I woke up late."
"How was the charity event last night?" Max asked, sitting next to Mike. All three of them sitting on the couch watching some random cartoon.
Cooper tiredly sits on the couch next to Noah, "Ugh, it was weird. I hope I never have to do it again. I'll let my dad do it next time."
"My dad had to play at a sweet sixteen one time, and he said the girl was mad because she didn't like the car her parents got her." Max came from a family of musicians; his dad was a musician, and his mom was a singer. His brother even moved to L.A. to pursue a career in the industry.
"Dude, rich kids are the worst! Everything's funny when you're young with money and mommy, and daddy will pay the way." Noah spoke in an exaggerated voice, quoting some song. "Talk about lifestyles of the rich and the famous," Mike added in, quoting another song.
Cooper sat up; he was much more comfortable with them when it came to anything, so he didn't mind telling them about River. "Well, not all of them are bad. I met this one guy from Concordia, and he's pretty chill."
"Pft. Yeah right, no one from over there is chill." Mike was always hard to convince. They always told him he had trust issues, but even then, he couldn't be convinced.
"No, seriously! We bumped into each other at the bookstore a couple of days ago, and he doesn't fit the stereotype."
Mike sat up, getting into the conversation, "Alright, so explain why though."
"Well, for starters, he comes all the way over here just to use our bookstore. Says he couldn't be bothered over here." Cooper started naming things until Max cut him off, "Drives across town just to use a bookstore? Bro, that's weird. What else?"
He goes back to naming things on his fingers," He's a laid back guy, he's taken me to eat a couple times. Doesn't like to flaunt his money, says he actually hates it." Cooper doesn't know why he was trying so hard to convince them, he was used to them not liking any of his friends.
"Lol, he takes you out to eat? I don't know Coop, it sounds like this guy likes you." Mike sat back as if he had already made up his mind.
This made Cooper scrunch up his eyebrows, "Yeah, as a friend. He's cool, he paid for me when we went to eat the first time."
