Chapter 2 - lesson learned

TW- Homophobia, assault.

It's been a couple days since I was last at the library, I was still baffled from the ever so casual introduction I had to my new professor, Erwin Smith, Erwin meaning respected friend. Did he know I was a student from the beginning? Or did he just figure it out after talking, didn't even really tell him what I was majoring.
I sighed and finally sat up from my bed after hearing my alarm blare from the speakers of my phone, I pressed snooze and looked towards the door seeing a liquid leak from outside the door, it being freshers week I guessed it was alcohol "fuck sake" I groaned and swung my legs out of my bed and put on my slippers, I picked up the floor wipes and began walking to the door hearing a slight mumble on the other side, I swung the door open to find Reiner passed out on the wall, the blonde male had a bottle in his hand that was cracked at the bottom and was the source of the leak. A groan escaped my lips as I grabbed the bottle and poured the rest of the alcohol into the bathroom sink and dropping the bottle into the bin, I walked back out from the bathroom and looked down at Reiner as I cleaned the floor, "sorry.." he mumbled clearly hungover, I sighed and held out my hand to him "get up, I'll get you a glass of water and some painkillers" Reiner grasped onto my hand and pulled himself up, for someone who was so large and a brute, he couldn't handle his alcohol. I brought the air-head to my room and sat him on Ymir's bed, hearing the springs of her mattress adjust to the sudden weight change, I got him a ice cold glass of water and dropped in some pain relief "Why are you even getting drunk you're not a freshman anymore" I glanced at Reiner as his eyes were glued to the ceiling, he had a thing of being deep in thought a lot and alcohol made it worse, he sighed and shrugged "Didn't wanna feel left out" despite Reiner being so intimidating and looking like a Boulder he was vulnerable and felt like he was out of his body as the world went by, I sat down next to him and handed him the glass as he took a swig. "You're an angel (y/n), you know that?" He placed a hand on the top of my head and ruffled my hair, I smiled softly as he moved his hand and leant on my shoulder "think now would be a bad time to ask to you a party tonight aswell huh?" Reiner lowly chuckled, I played with his hair and leant back against the wall and looked up to the ceiling, it's not that I'm not a party person, I just don't wanna be there if I'm just going to have to mother people the entire time. I shook my head "nah I think I'm good, and I think you should be too" Reiner stood up after finishing the glass and checked the time, his confident smile spreading across his face as he glanced down at me "nah I wanna party again, thank you m'lady for the care" Reiner leant down and kissed my forehead before strutting out of my room with a new beam of confidence, knowing full well at the end of the week he's going to be shattered.

I walked to a takeaway near the campus and got myself my dinner, Chinese style chicken chunks, egg fried rice and raspberry juice. Holding the bag close to myself as I walked, not having a nice night walk in ages, I inhaled and waited at the side of the road as traffic was backed up "We just keep on bumping into each other don't we" a low voice came from behind me, I looked behind me and saw Erwin, a large grin was spread across his face "oh hey, you're out late" I walked next to him, with only being a measly 5"1 he toward over me as he was defiantly close to being 6", his glance went from being onto me to my bag "I had to get some food, looks like you did too" he sniffed close to me, a slight blush spreading across my cheek due to how close he was. "It smells delicious" He took a peek into my bag, I held the bag infront of me and opened it slightly so he could see in, I smiled and closed the bag back up and yawned "Yeah it's Chinese chicken chunks and egg fried rice" Erwin hummed and leant back a bit, tilting his head up looking up at the sky "I'm envious, I just got myself some California rolls, salad, some chips and a little angel cake" I looked into his bag and chuckled, didn't take him to be such a foodie but it makes sense with how much he's eating as he was very bulky and could very easily see his muscles through his shirt. "I should get going before our food gets cold, Can't wait to have my first class with you tomorrow" Erwin softly smiled, a warmth surrounded him and made me feel safe, a soft blush spread across my cheeks as I smiled and nodded "same here, good luck with Jaeger though" I smirked and pat his chest passing by him and walking to my dorm building, taking one last glance at him and waved before going inside and up to my room. I don't know why but having him so close made my throat tighten up, making it hard to breathe around him. For the first time I felt dread in my stomach, I sighed and finally got to my room to see Ymir was still gone, I sat down on my bed and took out my food, the aroma filling my room. I stuffed my face as I put Netflix on my laptop, although I'm majoring in history I nearly went into criminology about serial killers, two completely different topics but true crime and Greek mythology was practically what raised me in high school.

Finally finishing my food I heard the door creak open, Ymir stumbled in with a limp "someone had fun at historia's" I chuckled and looked up, smile dropping once I saw the mess Ymir was in, she had a busted lip and a black eye along with some cuts on her "oh my god what happened" I jumped up and pulled over a chair helping Ymir down, out of all people to be beat up I didn't expect it to be Ymir, she grit her teeth and wiped her lip "I'm fine, me and Historia were at the park and some douchebags from jeans frat decided on yelling slurs at us, recognised Floch to be with them so I called them out on their shit and got my ass beat. Trust me if there was only one of them I'd be fine but they were a bunch of pussies and ganged up on me" I heard her out as I grabbed my first aid kit cleaning up the cuts, at least Ymir hasn't broken anything. "Is Historia okay?" I looked up at Ymir as she sighed nodding, looking guilty. "I told her to run, after the guys left I went straight to her sorority and nobody knew where she was. My guess she went to Sasha's, I don't wanna pry" after cleaning up Ymir I shot up and put my shoes back on, sighing and tying my hair back, a smirk spread across Ymir's face realising wha was going on "you're gonna smack him one aren't you?" I nodded and adjusted my ponytail and put my coat on, last thing I want is my friends hanging around a homophobe. "You can have the rest of my chicken and rice, I would've ordered more if I knew you were gonna be here so you can order more off my card if you want" I smiled before closing the door and walking out to the fraternity, I felt rage through my being as I knocked on the door, there was a party going on but thankfully was a smaller one as it's the last day of freshers. Jean swung open the door with a cheesy smile plastered on his face "wow you really chose the last night of freshers to party?" He looked at me confused as I shook my head and filled him in about what happened to Ymir, "son of a bitch, yeah you do what you want to them and I'll get Reiner to boot them out that's completely uncalled for, they're in the main room" Jean looked disgusted and stepped to the side as I walked in, although the building was very olden Victorian styled it was modernised by the flat screen tv's everywhere and LED's plastered in the corners to give it the party vibe, Jean followed behind me as I walked to the main room and to the speakers, pulling out the AUX and crossing my arms "who turned the fucking music off ?! Ruined the vibe!" Floch shot up and turned around towards the speaker, I threw the phone at his head and walked over past the sofa grabbing onto his ear "who else decided on being homophobic scum and beating up my friend?" I tugged on his ear as Falco whimpered, he pointed forward at this table of 3 boys, one standing up with a smirk spread on his face "Why? You protecting your girlfriends? Awh I'm scared" I tugged on Floch's ear and kicked the back of his knees making him kneel down onto the floor "stay there" I walked over to the boys as they all stood up, I wasn't someone to fight for my own gain but when it came to my friends I felt it was needed for justice to be served. The vocal boy out of the bunch walked over to me and towered over me, struggling to intimidate me, I tightened my ponytail and sighed "god your breath stinks" I grunted and grabbed his hair tugging it down as I jumped up kneeing him in the face, knocking the boy to the ground. "You psycho bitch!" He spat out at me as I grabbed his hair dragging him next to Floch making him kneel, I glared back at the other boys and whistled to them like they were animals "over here and kneel." I demanded, following my orders like a obedient dog they knelt down, I grabbed Floch's phone picking it up from the floor and unlocking it and began filming going one by one to each of the boys "Apologise for being homophobic scum and beating up my friend." I grabbed Floch's face making him look at the camera as he apologised, one by one they apologised, Jean brought Reiner down and he looked more pissed than ever, a smirk tugged onto my lips as I stopped recording "they're all yours" I pat Reiner's chest after uploading the video on his Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook. I looked Floch dead in the eyes as I dropped his phone on the floor stepping on it breaking it "take this as a lesson"
