Virgil stared at the last page in his script, feeling mutinous. How he was meant to kiss Roman and not hit him immediately after was beyond him.
"Ugh, what's wrong with you Virgil?" He muttered, running a hand through his hair. Really, he knew what was wrong. "But that's not going to happen." He tried to reassure himself.
"It still could happen, though." He thought. Virgil sighed and got up and opened his window. He needed air. "You're over him, aren't you?"
Virgil didn't know. Well, of course he was over Roman but was he completely over... everything that had happened? That, he didn't know. What had happened with Roman after the bet was confusing, to say the least. Nothing terrible had really happened but things had been off throughout.
"Just stop thinking about it, Virge." He told himself sharply. "You're over him and that's not going to change. Ever."
Still, talking to Roman normally had been nice. Until he'd realised he'd been talking to Roman normally. Ignorance is bliss but you can't get much ignorance from your own mind.
What had even happened with him and Roman? They'd been fine and then they hadn't been. How they'd gotten that way was a sort of blur. All Virgil knew for certain was that he'd given Roman one too many chances and every single one of those chances had been broken.
"And he doesn't keep his fucking promises. Ever." Virgil said, finishing off his thought out loud. "He certainly hasn't changed, that's for sure."
And he hadn't. Roman hadn't changed one bit. But maybe... maybe Virgil didn't mind that so much.
"What am I talking about? Course I mind." Virgil sighed and ran his hand through his hair again. "Would've thought I'd made even a small imact on his life, maybe made him change even a little."
But Roman had changed. Not hugely, that would've been basically impossible for Roman, but a little. He was less... hostile? That wasn't the right word... But Roman had become more approachable, Virgil supposed. Or maybe that was Virgil changing.
"If Princey's changed me, I swear..."
In truth, Virgil didn't really mind that Roman hadn't changed. It was more Roman than anything. To be exactly the same no matter what. And that gave a little stability to the situation. Whatever the situation was.
Roman looked down at the other boy who had fallen asleep on his shoulder. He smiled and ran his free hand through Virgil's hair.
Virgil hummed in his sleep at the contact and a sleepy smile graced his face. The smile on Roman's face grew. He ran his fingers through Virgil's hair again, playing with a couple of strands of Virgil's fringe.
Virgil's sleepy smile grew slightly. Roman laughed quietly so as to not wake his boyfriend up.
"Having sweet dreams, Sunshine?" He whispered. He pressed a gentle kiss to Virgil's hair. "I hope so. And if not, I'll fight off any evil demons in your dreams."
He ran his hand through Virgil's hair again.
"I'd do anything for you, Virge." He whispered to Virgil. Roman hesitated and then whispered. "I love you, Sunshine."
How's that for fluff on it's own but in the context of the story angst, hm?
Bye,
Blaize
