As we entered Zeus' I made my way to the counter and started taking out and wiping the cups from dust that might have accumulated since last week's party.
As I was doing so my blue-haired friend approached me with an expression of suspicion, I rolled my eyes and said, "Scar, don't make a big deal out of this."
She rested her elbows on the other side of the counter and gave an ironic laugh, "Me? Oh, never. For me, it's a normal walk in the park to be taking rides from the guy who has broken my heart and fucked my friend."
"Scarlet!" I exclaimed putting down the cup I was holding.
"Well, it's the truth." She said, "Look, I know i's hard to lose that many people you love. But you don't have to reach back to them."
"I know, Scar." I insisted.
"Do you?" She asked and walked around the counter and put a supporting hand on my arm, "You may feel that you can't trust most people. God knows you are right not to, from Jack, to Bryson, and Grace. But there are two people here who will never let you down-"
"Simon and Garfunkel," I said with a laugh.
"Me and Dallas." She answered while rolling her eyes. "We are reliable! Okay?"
"Scar, I know," I assured her.
"Just wanted to make sure. I don't want to see you heartbroken again, you stupid bitch!"
"Me neither, Scar."
"Good to know." She said while going around the counter again and heading towards the DJ's stand but turning around midway and pointing a finger at me, "No suicide wishes!"
I rolled my eyes as she reached Dallas and I could hear her say to him, "She's okay." He then turned to look at me and gave me two thumbs-ups with a kind smile which I returned.
They then turned to the CD's stan and began moving them around while studying them. By their left, a stressed-faced Melanie and Sophia were counting the tickets they were to sell at the entrance. Carson and two of their basketball team buddies were unpacking the alcohol that Dallas had brought earlier.
As I was looking around one more person from our staff came in through the big gate. Lucas came in and looked around but when his eyes fell on me he made his way to the counter.
"Hey!" He greeted me with a big smile.
"Hi, Lucas!" I said as I rearranged the cups on the cupboard behind me.
"Need any help?" He asked while running a hand through his short brown hair.
"I'm almost finished," I answered while wiping the last cup. "But thank you, kind sir."
"My pleasure, my lady." He answered laughing.
"What is that!?" I hear a voice asking from across the warehouse, "Are we laughing and playing houses now?"
I turned to look at Melanie as she looked furiously at us.
"Don't you understand that we have a schedule to maintain?" She asked while desperately looking at all of us.
"It's all good Melanie," Sophia assured. "We're doing good."
"Yeah. We're making much more profit than we expected." Scar agreed.
"But it's still not enough!" She said raising a hand to her silky like golden hair.
"We still have a month and a half, we'll get in time," Bryson said.
