"C'mon, you gotta tell us!" I insisted leaning closer to her.
"No!" She said, letting out an awkward laugh.
"You wanna tell us!" I exclaimed while putting my arm around her small shoulders, her big and curly hair tingling my bare skin.
"Oh... Okay!" She said and we cheered, "Melanie made me promise I wouldn't tell anyone." She added in a low tone.
"Why?" Grace asked while putting her thick black hair into a messy bun.
"Because she thinks I should be ashamed of it."
"Well, we don't follow Melanie's rules around here," I reassured her. "C'mon, Scar my grandmother must be almost here!"
"Okay, okay!" She gave in, "It was Drew."
"What!?" Me and Grace screamed.
"Shiu!" She said while trying to silence us.
I let my hands fall from my mouth and kneeled on the bench. "I don't see why you should be ashamed of it. At least you've had a boyfriend."
"Well, it was no big deal truth be told." Scar admitted.
"Either way. You both have had boyfriends. I should be the one being ashamed, I mean we are fourteen." I concluded while seeing my grandma's car stopping in front of the school.
"I see no problem with that," Grace added. "My mother said we should only get boyfriends after we finished our degree."
"I intend to have a boyfriend before being in a wheelchair, thank you very much. Anyway, you only said that because you've had a boyfriend."
"Who has a boyfriend?" Bryson asked while standing before us, with his ginger hair messily falling to his eyes.
I got up and put my hands in the mess of his curls trying to get it out of his eyes while he gave me a small smile.
"Grace." I simply answered which led Grace's cheek to turn bright red.
"Oh, yeah, Jack. I remember." He said while looking at the driveway. "Your grandma is here, Daisy, let's go."
"Let's. Bye, guys!" I said waving at them as we walked away.
"Do you reckon Jack still likes Grace?" I asked as we made our way to the car.
"You really are blind, Daisy," Bryson said while looking sideways at me. "He's crazy for you."
"What?! No!" I exclaimed although I knew it was true, something inside of didn't want it to be true. "Don't say that."
"Why?" He asked confused, "If it's true."
"Because... He's my friend." I explained as we reached my grandma. I gave her a hug and she kissed my cheek before making my way to the passenger seat.
"And what's the difference?" Bryson asked and I gave him a pointed look, having this conversation in front of my grandmother was embarrassing, to say the least, let alone having it with Bryson.
"It's weird, that's all." I simply said trying to dismiss the subject.
"Why is it weird?" He asked already inside of the car.
"What's weird?" My grandmother asked while giving me a warm smile.
"Oh, nothing grandma! Bryson is just being annoying." I said and shot him out my tongue through the rearview mirror. And he simply rolled his eyes, He's mad at me, I thought.
Being friends with Bryson sometimes was like dealing with my mother, you had to be very careful with what you said because he could easily get insulted.
