DAMONS POV
These past few days have been really rough for her. Since she went to visit Nate she hasn't really said much to me, or about him. I don't blame her but that's not what I'm concerned about. It's like she's become a completely different person. The new haircut is nice and all, she's still just as beautiful, but I can tell she's hurting.
She stays in her room day in and day out and only comes out when necessary. Every time I bring him up, she either deflects from answering, changes the subject, or tell me that she doesn't care about him anymore. When I see her on the verge of tears I want to go to his house and tear his head off or something.
To try to cheer her up a bit, I took the liberty and called in some backup. As the doorbell rings, I make my way to the door. "Hey! We brought snacks!" Mari says with her usual perky energy. "Great, she's gonna need all the comfort food she can get. Honestly, I never knew how you guys deal with the whole break up situation." I say watching as both Mari and Alex walk in.
"That's because you're a guy, and plus you're Damon. You may be a therapist but you're still pretty insensitive and like to handle things in a less subtle form." Alex tells me. I laugh a bit, given she's not wrong.
It would be easier if I didn't have to sit here and play nice when I could easily go knock on his door and knock his ass out. "Touche. She's in her room if you guys wanna go and get straight to work on rebuilding her." I tell them. I just hope they can have more of a breakthrough with her than I did.
Mari and Alex look at each other with a bit of a weird uncomfortable expression, "You wanna go in together or do you wanna like, you know do this one by one." Alex asks Mari. I stand watching as the two decide on whatever game plan they will use. It's like going into a lion's den, if they get eaten I don't exactly plan on going to their rescue. I may be a guy, but smart people don't engage in a fight with the lions, we run.
"Like taking turns? No, no. That's like splitting up in a horror movie Alex, one of us is bound to either die or piss her off, going in alone won't work. Plus I need you to back me up because knowing her she will chew me up, and you're too much of a hothead to do this by yourself." Mari explains.
"I'm not--Leah! Hey!" Alex quickly switches up as we all notice Leah coming out into the living room. Shit, this isn't going to go well. I clear my throat before giving her a smile before folding my arms. "Hey, what are you guys doing here?" She asks. God, she looks a mess. Her sweaters drooping from her shoulders, you can see the bags under her puffed-up eyes. It pains me to see her this way.
"Uh, well Damon told us about what happened and we figured we could try to come and help cheer you up and help you forget about Nate," Mari says. Leah gives me a very unpleasant look and I instantly turn away. Thank you Marissa for signing my death certificate. By the mention of Nate, I can already see her tense up.
"Of course he did. Thanks for the failed attempt at rescuing me but I'd rather just be alone right now." She says before turning away.
"We brought snacks. Come on Leah we're just trying to be here for you. We know you've been going through a lot and we're only trying to help." Alex explains. Leah stops midway before turning back around. I think we all know that when it comes to her no one plans on giving up.
"He hurt me. Okay, he made me feel like a complete idiot, and I hate his guts. I told him I loved him, and he shut me down," The more she spoke the louder she got, her voice instantly breaking. Shit. "Then I have to find out that he's been sleeping with Madison out of all people! I gave up so much, only for him to basically hit me in the face--"
"Wait a fucking second, he hit you?" Alex asked, her expressions getting a lot more serious. "No! Alex, no he didn't hit me it was a figure of speech." Her words translating into tears. "The worst part about all of this is that I still love him and hate him at the same time even though I know that everything he felt just disappeared!"
