NATES POV
"How's she doing?"

"Not exactly the best. Since we got back she's just been getting rid of a bunch of things..clothes, pictures..honestly I think she's just walking down memory lane and so far she hasn't exploded on me yet about everything."

Since we arrived home I watched her silently walk up the stairs to the bedroom and from that point on she hasn't spoken a word to me. Instead she grabbed her suitcase and started trashing things before sitting down and looking through a bunch of pictures.

Two hours earlier

I stand in the doorframe, watching her as she sits on the floor in front of the bed whilst she purges away a few of her things. Watching her like this makes me want to punch that asshole in the face. For a while nonetheless I only saw her smile and laugh, now she's in this shitty predicament all because her parents..both sets of them didn't bother to be honest with her.

Maybe she couldn't have handled it in the beginning, but she's strong, and despite going through hell over the years she's managed to overcome it all. "Are you sure you don't need me to do anything? I could make you something to eat or I can run you a bath to ease your nerves.."

She shook her head, "No. I just need to get a few things done right now."

I sigh and bend down in front of her, grabbing her hand as she grabs a handful of clothing from her bag, "Hey, come on talk to me. The last thing I want is for you to hold all of this in and have some bizarre breakdown."

The blank stare in her eyes as she looks back at me scare me a little as she loosens herself from my grip before looking back down at the pile of clothes. "There's not much for me to say right now. The only thing that I need to do is think. If I speak now then it's not going to benefit either of us."

"Bug off Nate," I think to myself before kissing her forehead and standing, exiting the room.

Present Time

"Do you need me to come over or anything bro? I think she just needs a strong support system right now." Sam tells me.

"What she needs is space. If she doesn't want to talk to me what makes you think she's gonna talk to any of you guys?" I remind him.

"What and all of a sudden you're an expert on what she needs? No offense Nate but—"

"She told me herself that she wanted to be alone with her thoughts. For once I'm not gonna force her to do or say anything that she doesn't want to do. How about you be a little open minded about her situation, given she just went through literal hell and embarrassment at the dinner with those fucking idiots deciding it was the best time to just say that their her biological parents."

The small amount of silence only made me want to hang up. Seconds later Sams small laugh interrupts it, "You find something amusing mate?" I say with a more bothered tone.

"Nothing, nothing, it's just crazy how much she's changing you. You went from being America's typical Australian fuckboy to this decent guy, Makes me actual considering being friends with you again."

I make my way back up the stairs, quietly moving back to the roomAs I lean in the doorframe of the bedroom, gazing at her as her frustrated head allows her to gather her thoughts and emotions, I laugh. "Never in a million years would I even consider that."
